Crystal Palace Yarns - FREE PATTERN - Knit
Description: The L train is a subway line in New York that travels from the Lower West Side to Brooklyn. The slow gradations of gray tones and the subway tile-look of this scarf inspired its urban name. The L-Train Scarf is designed using slow-striping Mini Mochi as a main color and Mini Solid as the contrast color. The mock plaid is created by carrying a slipped stitch across the contrast color. Alternating bands of garter and Stockinette stitches create texture and helps to flatten the finished blocked piece.
Level: Easy (garter, St st, slipped sts)
Size: 64" x 5"
Gauge: 6 sts=1" over garter stitch
Abbreviations: BO- bind off; CC- contrast color; CO- cast on; k- knit; p- purl; RS- right side (outside of piece); sl- slip; St st- stockinette stitch; st(s)-stitches; WS- wrong side; yb- yarn back; yfwd- yarn forward
Note 1: Do not break yarn when changing colors. Before starting each RS row, carry the color not in use up the edge by wrapping it once around the color that is in use. This will produce a tidy right-hand edge.
Note 2: When slipping sts on the WS, be sure to bring yarn to front before slipping the st.
