Go,Team! Fingerless Gloves

Description:  Go San Francisco, or choose colors for your own favorite sports team!  We have developed a series of team colors in Merino 5 to work with many major, minor and college league sports.  Keep your hands warm in the stands and show your team spirit all season long.  These 3 x 1 ribbed fingerless gloves work up fast, so make a set for your next sporting event.

Level:  Intermediate (working in the rnd, thumb gusset)

Size:  Adult Medium

Materials: 

  • 1 ball each of MC and CC of Crystal Palace Merino 5 (shown in 5202 "Jet Black" and 1011 "Team Orange")
  • Crystal Palace Bamboo 6" or 8" DPN's in US size 6, or size needed for gauge
  • 2 stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:  5.75 sts=1" in rib, unstretched

Abbreviations:  BO- bind off; CC- contrast color;

 

INSTRUCTIONS (Make 2)

With MC, CO 40 sts.  Join, being careful not to twist.  Work k3 x p1 rib for 1". 

Note: When changing colors, carry yarn in back rather than cutting off to avoid extra tail ends.

 

Continuing in k3 x p1 rib, change to CC and work 2 rnds with CC.

Work 2 rnds in rib with MC.

Work 2 rnds in rib with CC.

Work 2 rnds in rib with  MC.

Work 2 rnds in rib with  CC.

 

Change to MC and work 2 more rnds in rib.  (Rest of the glove will be worked in MC only.)

 

Begin Thumb Gusset:

Rnd 1:  K3, p1, m1, k3, m1, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 2:  K3, p1, k5, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 3:  K3, p1, m1, k5, m1, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 4:  K3, p1, k7, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 5:  K3, p1, m1, k7, m1, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 6:  K3, p1, k9, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 7:  K3, p1, m1, k9, m1, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 8:  K3, p1, 11, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 9:  K3, p1, m1, k11, m1, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 10:  K3, p1, 13, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 11:  K3, p1, m1, k13, m1, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 12:  K3, p1, 15, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 13:  K3, p1, m1, k15, m1, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 14:  K3, p1, 17, p1, work rib to end.

Rnd 15:  K3, p1, k1, sl 15 sts onto scrap yarn, k1, p1, work rib to end.

 

Work even in rib until piece measures 7.5" from cast-on edge.  BO in rib.

 

Finishing Thumb:

Sl 15 sts from scrap yarn onto 3 dpn's.  Starting with MC on right-hand side at top of gusset, pick up and k1 st from glove above gusset opening.  [16 sts]  This is the first st in the k3 x p1 rib edging for thumb.  Continue k3 x p1 rib across.  Join and work k3 x p1 rib for 2 more rows.  BO in rib.

 

Weave in all ends.  Go, team!
