Using the figure 8 cast on; make a slip knot (this will be removed after first round) and making figure 8's on two needles held next to each other. You will have 5 stitches on the needle with the slip knot and 4 Sts on the other needle. With a third needle you will K 4 Sts making sure to work the stitch with a twist to prevent a loose toe (this can also be tightened up after you remove the slip knot if necessary. With another needle work the other 4 Sts and dropping the slip knot.
Increase round:* K 1, M 1 by picking up loop between Sts and placing on left hand needle then K through the back loop, K to within the last St on needle and M 1, then K last St,* repeat for other needle.
Nest Rnd: Knit all Sts.
Repeat these two rounds dividing onto 4 needles when needed. Continue to increase until you have a total of 64 Sts.
Work the bottom of the foot in Stockinet Stitch and begin working the pattern stitch on the top of the foot section. Continue working in this manner until you are 1 .5 inches from the total length needed for foot.
This heel is worked a little different from other toe up heels.
Working on the Sts for the bottom of the foot and continuing is Stockinette Stitch working back and forth:
Row 1: Slip 1, SSK (Slip 2 Sts Knitwise, replace onto left hand needle and K 2tog), K to within the last 3 Sts and K2tog, K1.
Row 2: Slip the first St of the row then Purl all Sts.
Repeat these two rows until you are left with 12 Sts for the heel.
Pick up one stitch for every Slipped St on the side of the flap you just made.
Working in the round again, Knit all of the Sts from the heel and continue the pattern on the top foot section. [64 sts]
K2tog thru the back loop on heel Sts, K to with the last 2 Sts of heel flap and then K2tog, Work pattern st across top of foot.
Work one round of K all heel Sts and continue in pattern across top of foot between the decrease rounds.
When you are back to 64 Sts Work continue the pattern St around the whole cuff.
Work the cuff to 1 .5 inch from the length desired.
Work 1 .5 inch of K2 P2 rib.
Picot bind off:
[K the first St then replace it on the left hand needle,*K a st in between the first and second st as you would with a knit cast on, place this St on the left hand needle*.Repeat this step one more time. (You have increased 2 Sts). Bind off 4 Sts as normal.] Repeat this process until you have worked all of the stitches. Cut your yarn and pull thru the last St. Weave in ends and make the second sock so you have a friendly pair for your feet to enjoy.
