This beautiful kimono style jacket has the look of an ikat
fabric. With the very large color range available in Merino 5 you will be able
to adapt this jacket to your own personal color palette.

5 (6, 7, 8, 10) balls Color A – Dark Solid (shown in #5226

6 (7, 8, 9, 11) balls Color C – Multicolor (shown in #0014
Midnight Oasis)
Needles: Two 29” or 32” Circular CPY Bamboo Size US 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles
or size required to get gauge

1. The Kimono is made in 4 L-shaped pieces, which are sewn
together at center back, across the shoulders and tops of the sleeves, and at
the sides and underarms.

Work 1 more RS row. Place a moveable marker on last st. Using cable cast on, CO
109 (102, 102, 105, 98) sts – 219 (212, 222, 225, 228) sts total. Work 1 WS row.

Using cable cast on, CO 109 (102, 102, 105, 98) sts – 219 (212, 222, 225, 228)
sts total. Work first 2 rows of Slip Stitch Stripe Pattern.

Right Front:

Center Front: with color A, CO 95
(97, 108, 108, 115) sts. Work 12 rows of Slip Stitch Stripe Pattern once. Work 8

For size L only, CO 6 more sts and place moveable marker on last st. – 120 sts.

Finishing:
Sew center back seam.
Sew fronts to back at shoulders and top of sleeves.
Neckband:
Starting at right front neck, with RS facing, using color A, pick
up and knit 30 (30, 30, 32, 32) sts up right front neck edge, 28 (30, 30, 32,
38) sts across back neck, an 30 (30, 30, 32, 32) sts down left front neck edge –
88 (90, 90, 96, 102). Work rows 2 – 5 of Slip Stitch Stripe Pattern. BO loosely.
Sleeve Borders:
With RS facing, using color A, pick up and knit 87 (87, 101, 101,
101) along lower edge of sleeve. Work rows 2 – 5 of Slip Stitch Stripe Pattern.
BO loosely. Repeat for other sleeve.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
Bottom Band:
Starting at left front, with RS facing, using color A, pick up
and knit 42 (49, 56, 63, 70) sts along lower edge of left front, 84 (98, 112,
126, 140) sts across back, and 42 (49, 56, 63, 70) sts along lower edge of right
front – 168 (196, 224, 252, 280) sts. Work rows 2 – 5 of Slip Stitch Stripe
Pattern. BO.
Weave in ends and block lightly.
