Jingle Bell Taos Hat
Designed & Knit by Nancy Wild, a Warm & Wild Design
Sized for Infant, Toddler and Adults
Materials:
1 (1, 3) balls Main Color (MC) & 1 ball of Taos in Contrasting color (CC)
Crystal Palace
Star Bamboo Needles
Size 4 (6, 10 ½) Double Point
Jingle Bells: 8 (8, 14) 10 mm size bells
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge: (in stockinette st)
Infant size - 6 sts/inch on smallest size needle
Toddler size - 5 sts/inch on middle size needle
Adult size - uses double strands, 3 ½ sts/inch on largest size needle
Abbreviations:
BO-bind off; beg - begin (ning), CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; K-knit; PU- pick up; p-purl; rem- remaining; rep-repeat;
Rnd-round; RS-right side; St(s)-stitch (es); St st-Stockinette stitch; WS- wrong side
Sizes:
Infant-12 mos ( 1-4 years, Adult)
Before starting the pattern you will need gently to string jingle bells onto one strand of CC of Taos.

Hat Brim:
With contrasting color of yarn single stranded (double for Adult size) and needle size for correct size hat, cast on 15 sts and slide jingle bell in place,* cast on 30 Sts slide bell in place*, rep this until all bells have been place onto cast on row ending with cast on 15 sts. (total 240 sts)
Join being careful not to twist sts before starting first round & place marker at beginning of round.
Round 1 and all odd rounds: Knit.
Round 2: K13, K2tog, *K2tog, K26, K2tog *, rep around ending with K13.
Round 4: K12, K2tog, *K2tog, K24, K2tog* rep around ending with K 12.
Round 6: K11, K2tog, *K2tog, K22, K2tog*, rep around end with K11
Round 8: K10, K2tog, *K2tog, K20, K2tog*, rep around end with K10.
Round 10: K9, K2tog, *K2tog, K18, K2tog*, rep around end with K9.
Round 12: K8, K2tog, *K2tog, K16, K2tog*, rep around end with K8.
Round 14: K7, K2tog, *K2tog, K14, K2tog*, rep around end with K7.
Round 16: K6, K2tog, *K2tog, K12, K2tog*, rep around end with K6.
Round 18: K5, K2tog, *K2tog, K10, K2tog*, rep around end with K5.
Round 20: K4, K2tog, * K2tog, K8 , K2tog*, rep around ending with K4. (80 Sts)
Finish brim with K round & break yarn leaving long enough tail for weaving in at end.
Hat Crown:
Working with WRONG side of brim facing you and starting Main color yarn at beginning of another needle to prevent holes when switching direction of knitting, K 3(4, 7) inches or desired depth of crown using St st which is K all sts when working in round.
Crown Decreases:
Round 1 and all odd rounds: Knit.
Round 2: *K8, K2tog* rep around.
Round 4: *K7, K2tog* rep around.
Round 6: *K6, K2tog* rep around.
Round 8: * K5, K2 tog* rep around.
Round 10: *K4, K2tog* rep around
Round 12: * K3, K2tog* rep around
Round 14 & 16: K2tog around. Cut yarn after round 16 leaving tail long enough to weave in.
Weave in all ends.
