Gauge:
17.75 sts and 23 rows=4" in St st

Materials:
9 (9, 10, 10) balls Cotton Twirl #2230 Fireworks
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles:
SP Size 8 US, US 35" circular needle size 8
2 hook and eyes or closure as desired
Stitch markers
Stitch holder

Abbreviations: beg: begin; bor: BO: bind off; CO: cast on; dec: decrease; K: knit; K2tog: knit 2 sts together; P: purl; rem: remain(ing); PM: place marker; rep: repeat; RS: right side; SM: slip marker; st(s): stitch(es); St st: stockinette st; SSK, slip two stitches from left to right needle, one-at-a-time. Insert tip of left needle into these two sts and knit them (Dec of 1); SKP, slip one st from left to rt needle, K next st, pass SL-st over the K st (dec of 1); W&T: work & turn; WS: wrong side.

CO 82 (90, 100, 108) sts. Work k1, p1 rib 1 ".
Work in St st until 8 (9, 9, 10)" from CO edge.
Shape Armhole
BO 4 sts beg next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st each end every other row 5 (8, 6, 6) times as follows:
K1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 - 64 (66, 80, 88) sts
Work even until armhole meas 9 (9, 9, 10)".
BO 6 (6, 8, 9) sts beg next 6 rows.
Place rem 28 (30, 32, 34) sts on holder for back neck.

Right Front
CO 24 (26, 28, 30) sts. Work k1, p1 rib 1 ".
Change to St st.
Next row: k1, knit into front and back of next st (inc made), k rem sts
Inc 1 st at beg of RS rows (neck edge) 13 (15, 18, 20) more times - 38 (42, 47, 51) sts
Work even until meas same as Back to armhole.
Shape Armhole
WS: BO 4 sts, p across.
At armhole (end of row), dec 1 st every other row 5 (8, 6, 6) times.
At the same time, at neck edge dec 1 st on first RS row, then every 4th row 11 (11, 13, 14) times - 18 (18, 24, 27) sts
Work even until measures same as Back.
WS: BO 6 (6, 8, 9) sts beg next 3 WS rows.

Left Front
Work same as Right Front, reversing shaping.

Sleeves
CO 46 (46, 52, 54) sts. Work k1, p1 rib 1 ".
Work in St st and inc 1 st each end every 4th row 8 (9, 8, 9) times - 62 (64, 68, 72) sts
Work even until piece meas 9 (9, 9, 9)" from beg.
Cap Shaping
BO 4 sts beg next 2 rows.
Work 2 rows even.
Dec 1 st each end next and then every other row 18 (19, 21, 23) times total.
BO rem 18 sts.

Finishing
Seam shoulders.
Shawl Collar
With circular needles and RS facing, beg at bottom right edge pick up 42 (44, 46, 46) sts to first dec at neck edge, pm, pick up 38 (38, 40, 42) sts along right neck edge, k 28 (30, 32, 34) sts from back neck holder, pick up 38 (38, 40, 42) sts along left neck edge, pm, pick up 42 (44, 46, 46) sts along lower left edge.
Work k1, p1 rib 1".

Note: re. W&T [= working short rows]:
If a k st is about to be worked: wyib, sl st as if to p from left to right needle,
bring yarn to front, sl st back to left needle
If a p st is about to be worked: wyif, sl st as if to p from left to right needle,
bring yarn to back, sl st back to left needle

BO sts in pat to first marker, sm. From marker to marker, work short rows:
Cont in rib as established to 1 st before second marker, W&T, pm.
Cont in rib as established to 1 st before marker, W&T, pm.
Cont in rib as established to 1 st before marker, W&T, pm.
Cont in rib as established to 3 sts before marker, W&T, pm.
Repeat last row 23 more times.
Work in pat as established to 1 st before marker, W&T.
Work in pat as established to end of row (where BO sts ended), removing markers.
BO all sts in pat, hiding the wraps.

Note: Hiding The Wraps
As you BO, pick up the wrap with the next st and k2tog or p2tog.

Sew in sleeves. Seam sleeves and sides. Weave in ends on WS.
Sew hook and eye for closure at point of first neck dec and another at point where inc ended on front.
Block as needed.
