Sequoia Scarves in two Patterns Pattern
for a man or woman
Sequoia is a new alpaca blend for Fall '06
Cable Scarf (near
left and 2nd from right)
and
Ribbed Scarf (far
right and 2nd from left)
Materials (for each scarf)
4 -50 gr balls Sequoia
(a soft, chunky wool-alpaca blend)
Cable Scarf
Materials:
4 -50 gr balls Sequoia
Size 11 CPY Bamboo or DAISY Needles.
and one cable stitch holder
Gauge: 11-12 sts/4 inches in St st
Stitches Used:
Stockinette St (K right side, P wrong side)
right 4x4 cable across 8 sts: place 4 sts on cable st holder and hold in
back of work, K 4 sts, then K 4 sts from cable st holder.
left 4x4 cable across 8 sts: place 4 sts on cable st holder and hold in
front of work, K 4 sts, then K 4 sts from cable st holder.
Note: throughout scarf, the 3rd st in from both the left and right side
of scarf is a P st on both wrong and right side rows.
Directions
(corrected rows of cables - 11/15/06)
Cast on 24 sts. Work 1 row St st.
Row 1: (RS) K2, P1, K 18, P1, K2
Row 2: (WS) P all sts
Repeat these two rows, inserting the cables as below:
Rows 5, 17, 29, and every 12th row thereafter: (RS) K2, P1, K5, Work left
4x4 cable over next 8 K sts, K5, P1, K2
Rows 11, 23, 35, and every 12th row thereafter: (RS) K2, P1, K1, work left
4x4 cable over next 8 sts, then work right 4x4 cable over next 8 sts, K1, P1, K2
[Note: there will be 5 rows of St st between each of the cable rows.
Cable rows will alternate between one center cable twist and two cable twists.]
Continue in this manner until you are almost
out of yarn, end with a St st row. Cast off loosely.
Soak the scarf, roll in a towel and gently block to dry.
Ribbed Scarf
4 -50 gr balls Sequoia
1 pair size 11 needles
Gauge: 17 sts/4 inches in ribbing
Instructions:
Cast on 26 sts
K one row
Row 1: K2, P2, *K3, P2* repeat between *s across scarf ending K2
Row 2: P2, K2, *P3, K2* repeat between *s across scarf ending P2
Repeat these two rows until almost out of yarn.
K one row.
Bind off loosely.
Soak the scarf, roll in a towel and gently
block to dry.
