This scarf is soft and light with a easy-to-knit curled form.
Materials:
1 ball Crystal Palace
Sausalito (50 grams/195
yards)
(sample shown was knit in color #8118 “toast 'n jam")
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles Circular 26" Size 7
[instructions edited - 4/19/11]
Gauge: 5.5 sts/inch in garter st. If your gauge is too
tight your scarf will not be long enough.
Size: Approx. 55-58" long
Note: It's very important that the cast-on row be loosely cast
on.
I recommend using a size 8 or 9 needle to cast on and do a cable cast-on to keep
stretchy.
Instructions
Cast on 120 sts
Work 4 rows of garter st (K all rows)
Inc Row: increase 1 st in every stitch by knitting in front and back of each
stitch [240 sts]
Work 6 rows of garter st
Inc Row: increase 1 st in every stitch [480 sts]
Work 6 rows (or until almost out of yarn but leaving enough yarn to bind off).
It is important to bind off loosely to keep the loose edge and allow it to curl
(use a size 8 or 9 needle if you have difficulty binding off loosely).
Soak in warm water with mild soap or liquid detergent, rinse.
Roll in big towel and lay out to dry.
