A Free Lace Scarf Pattern that uses only 2 balls of Kid Merino

This elegant scarflet will dress up any outfit. There are so many colors of Kid Merino to pair up that you will want to make more than one.  Kid Merino comes in 25 gr balls with 240 yds/ball. It is a blend of merino wool, kid mohair and nylon.

1 - 25 gr ball variegated Crystal Palace Kid Merino (color A)
1 - 25 gr ball coordinating solid Crystal Palace
Kid Merino (color B) [Here the 2 colors are A: 2001 'cocoa blues' & B: 4673 'espresso'

Circular Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles, 26" or 35" US size 6.
[Note: the scarflette is knit lengthwise.]

K - knit; kf&b - knit in front & back [increase]; Psso - pass the slipped stitch over; rep - repeat; Sl - slip one stitch purlwise; YO - yarn over

With color B (solid) held double. Cast on 136 stitches
Knit 3 rows
With color A held double (variegated)
Row 1: Purl
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: Purl
Row 4: *sl 1 purlwise, k1, yo, psso the k1 and the yo, rep from* to end of row
Row 5: Purl
Row 6: as row 4
Row 7: Purl
Row 8: as row 4
Work rows 1-8 twice.
Repeat rows 1-3 once more.

Begin 1st Ruffle:
Change to color B held double.
Rows 1-3: knit
Row 4: purl
Row 5: knit
Row 6: purl
Row 7: kf&b of every stitch
Row 8: purl
Row 9: knit
Row 10: purl
Bind off all sts LOOSELY knitwise.

2nd ruffle:
With right side facing and color A held double, pick up 136 sts from garter ridge bump created by row 2 of first ruffle.
Row 1: kf&b of every stitch
Row 2: purl
Row 3: knit
Row 4: purl
Bind off all stitches LOOSELY knitwise.

On the short ends of the scarf, weave a piece of color A yarn through the end stitches. Pull tight to create a rounded point on each end of the scarf. Sew on a decorative button as shown that will fit through the lacey section of the scarf. Wrap around neck twice and fasten with button.
