Note: If wearing over a lightweight top, choose a finished
size closest to or slightly larger than actual bust; if wearing over medium
weight top choose finished size 2-3 inches larger than actual bust.

Materials:

Crystal Palace Bamboo Crochet Hook
size I (5.5mm)
3 stitch holders, Spray bottle, Pins for blocking
Gauge:
11 sts= 4 inches, and 13 rows = 4 inches, using size 13 needle in St st with
Rave.
Be sure to make a gauge swatch before beginning project.
Abbreviations:
Beg-beginning; BO-bind off; CC-contrast color; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; K-
knit; K2tog- knit 2 stitches together; MC-main color; p2tog-purl 2 together;
p2tog tbl-purl 2 together through back loops; ssk- slip 2 stitches one at a
time as if to knit, place tip of left needle through the front of these 2
stitches and knit together from this position; Rem- remaining; Rep-repeat;
Rnd- round RS-right side; St(s)-stitch (es); WS- wrong side
Note: Vest is worked
in one piece to armhole division. The bottom edge will roll but will lay
flat after it is blocked and trim applied.
Body:
Using MC, CO 90 (96) (102) (108) (118) sts. Knit 2 rows. Work in Stockinette
St until piece measures 4 (4.5) (4.5) (5) (5)” from CO edge, end after
working WS row.
Divide for Fronts and Back:
K 19 (20) (22) (23) (24) sts. Place on stitch holder for right front, BO
5 (6) (6) (6) (8) sts, K 42 (44) (46) (50) (52) sts, and place on stitch
holder for back. BO 5 (6) (6) (6) (8) sts, knit rem sts.
Left Front:
Working with 19 (20) (22) (23) (24) sts on needle, purl 1 row.
Dec Row: K 1, ssk, knit to end of row 18 (19) (21) (22) (23) sts.
Work even until piece measures 4 (4.5) (4.5) (5) (5.5)” from armhole BO, end
after working RS row.
Shape Neck:
Bind off 4 (4) (5) (5) (5) sts at the beginning of the next row. 14 (15)
(16) (17) (18) sts.
Decrease Row 1: Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Decrease Row 2: P1, p2tog, purl to end of row. Repeat the last 2 rows
once more. 10 (11) (12) (13) (14) sts. Work even until piece measures 7
(7.5) (7.5) (8) (8.5)” from armhole BO. BO rem sts.
Right Front:
Place 20 (22) (23) (24) sts from stitch holder for right front back onto
needles. With WS facing, join yarn at armhole edge. Purl 1 row.
Decrease Row: Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog; k1. 18 (19, 21, 22, 23) sts.
Work even until piece measures 4 (4.5) (4.5) (5) (5.5)” from armhole BO; end
after working WS row.
Shape Neck:
Bind Off 4 (5) (5) (5) (5) sts at beginning of the next row. 15 (16)
(17) (18) sts.
Dec Row 1: Purl to last 3 sts, p2tog-tbl, p1.
Dec Row 2: K1, ssk, knit to end of row. Repeat last 2 rows once more. 11
(12) (13) (14) sts. Work even until piece measures 7 (7.5) (7.5) (8)
(8.5)” from armhole BO. BO rem sts.
Back:
Place 42 (44) (46) (50) (52) sts, from stitch holder for back, onto
needles. With WS facing join yarn at armhole edge, work 1 row even.
Decrease Row: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. 40 (42) (44) (48)
(50) sts.
Work even in Stockinette until piece measures 5.5 (6) (6) (6.5) (7)” above
armhole BO, ending on a WS row.
Shape Neck and Shoulders:
Knit 12 (13) (14) (15) (16) sts, place on stitch holder for Right
shoulder, BO 16 (16) (16) (18) (18) sts, k 12 (13) (14) (15) (16) sts.
Left Shoulder:
Purl 1 row. Decrease next row as follows k1, ssk, knit to end of row. 11
(12) (13) (14) (15) sts. Rep last 2 rows once more. 10 (11) (12) (13) (14).
Work even if necessary, until armhole measures 7 (7.5) (7.5) (8) (8.5)” from
armhole BO ending on WS row. Bind off remaining sts.
Right Shoulder:
Place 12 (13) (14) (15) (16) sts from stitch holder for right shoulder
back on the needles, with WS facing join yarn at neck edge. Purl 1 row. Dec
Row: Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. 11 (12) (13) (14) (15) sts. Rep last 2
rows once more. 10 (11) (12) (13) (14). Work even, if necessary, until
armhole measures 7.5 (7.5) (7.5) (8) (8.5)” from armhole BO. Bind off
remaining sts.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams. Work in ends. Block by pinning out and spraying with
water. Place a lightweight towel on the bottom edge to flatten. Let dry
completely. Apply trim.
Trim:
RS facing, using MC and size 11 needle, beg at lower left front edge and
pick up 90 (96) (102) (108) (118) sts, across bottom edge, pick up 14 (16)
(16) (18) (20) sts along right front edge to right neck shaping, pick up 13
(14) (14) (14) (14) sts around neck edge to right shoulder, pick up 26 (28)
(28) (30) (30) sts to left shoulder, pick up 13 (14) (14) (14) (14) sts
around neck to left front edge, pick up 14 (16) (16) (18) (20) sts to lower
left front edge. 170 (184) (190) (202) (216) sts. Rnd 1: * K1, p1, rep from
* around. BIND OFF: BO 90 (96) (102) (108) (118) firmly across the bottom
edge, BO loosely to shoulder, BO firmly to next shoulder then loosely for
remainder of sts. Apply crochet trim.
Crochet Trim:
RS facing, begin at lower left bottom edge (directly below middle of left
underarm), using crochet hook and CC color, join and work single crochet to
right front edge, 3 sc in corner, sc to right neck edge, 3 sc in corner, sc
around neckline to left neck edge, 3 sc in corner, sc to left bottom edge, 3
sc in corner, sc to beg of round, join with slip stitch. Work one round sc
without working the 3 sc in corners. Fasten off.
Armhole Trim:
RS facing, begin at mid underarm, using crochet hook and CC color, join
and work 2 rounds sc. Fasten off.
