Raggedy Cropped Jacket
a free knitting pattern - easy to
knit jacket

Materials: 12 (12, 13, 15, 17) balls Crystal Palace
Raggedy col. 9162-sage mix,
Crystal Palace Bamboo needles size 13, size J
crochet hook and 2 buttons. Raggedy is a wool blend, fringed ribbon yarn.
Size: 38 (41, 44, 47, 50) inches finished chest size
Gauge: 13 sts and 16 rows equal 4” in St st
Pattern stitch: Reverse Stockinette (purl side is right side)
Back: Cast on 62 (67, 72, 77, 82) sts and work in Rev St st for 12
(12, 12.5, 14, 15.5) inches.
Arm opening: bind off 3 (3, 5, 5, 6) sts at the beg of the next two rows
then dec 1 st ea edge every right side row 2 (3, 3, 4, 4) times. When piece
measures 21 (21, 22, 23.5, 25) inches, bind off all sts.
Front: Cast on 31 (34, 37, 40, 43) sts and work as for back. There is
no neck shaping, collar is folded back and a button is sewn on to hold the
collar in place. Make a second front reversing the arm shaping.
Sleeves: Cast on 30 (32, 34, 34, 36) sts and work 7 rows in Rev St st.
Then inc 1 st each side every 6th row 10 (10, 12, 12, 14) times. When sleeve is
17.5 (18, 18, 18, 18.5) inches, shape cap.
Cap shaping: bind off 3 (3, 5, 5, 6) sts at the beg of next two rows, 4
sts at the beg of next 6 (6, 8, 8, 8) rows, 5 (6, 3, 3, 5) sts at the beginning
of next 2 rows, bind off rem 10 sts loosely.
Finishing: Sew pieces together. With size J crochet hook, work 1 row
single crochet up the front pieces and around collar. Make two ties with either
I-cord or chain crochet and secure to jacket just below where collar folds back
(see photo). Fold collar back and sew on buttons.
