"Fluff" Merino Frappe Cowl Pullover

Merino Frappe is a soft, frothy blend of 80% merino wool brushed on a core of 20% nylon

Sizes: S (M, L) 36.5" (41", 45")

Materials: Crystal Palace Merino Frappe color #24, 7 (7, 8) -50g balls
Crystal Palace Bamboo #8 needles, 12" straight or 26" circular, and 16" circular #8 needles

 
Gauge: 14 sts by 22 rows=4" over Reverse St st.
        
Note: This sweater should be sewn in Reverse St st. All shaping, except for sleeve cap shaping, should be done on WS (knit side).

BACK:
Cast on 62 (70, 78 sts). Work in K2P2 ribbing for 1.5" (8 rows).
Change to Reverse St st.
Waist shaping: Dec 1 st at each end of every 10th (12th, 10th ) row 2x (66 sts). Inc 1 st at each end of every following 12th (12th,14th) row 3 times to 64 (72, 80) sts. Work even for 10 rows until piece measures 13.5 (14, 14.5)" [74 (78, 80) rows.
Armhole shaping: BO 3 (3, 4)sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every following WS row 4x (6x, 7x) until 50 (54, 58) sts remain. Work even until armhole measures 7.5 (8, 8.5) " [42 (44, 46) rows].
Shape neck: Work both sides at the same time. Work 16 (17, 17) sts. Slip the next 18 (20, 24) sts to a holder. With a second ball of yarn, work remaining 16 (17, 17) sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 6 (6, 5) times, until 10 (11, 12) sts remain on each side of neck.
At the same time, when armhole measures 8.5, (8.75, 9.5) " [46 (48, 52) rows], start shoulder shaping.
Shoulder shaping: Bind off 3 (3, 4) st at end of next 2 rows , then BO 3 (4, 4) sst at end of next 2 rows, then BO 4 (4, 4) sts at end of next 2 rows. 

FRONT:

Work as for BACK until piece measures 13.5 (14, 14.5)" [74 (78, 80) rows].
Armhole: Dec for armhole at both ends, as for back. Work even until armhole measures 6.5 (7, 7.5)" [36 (38, 40) rows, with 50 (54, 58) sts remaining.
Shape neck: Work both sides at the same time. Work 19 (21, 22) sts. Slip the next 12 (12, 14) sts to a holder. With a second ball of yarn, work remaining 19 (21, 22) sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 9 (10, 10 times, until 10 (11, 12) sts remain on each side of neck.
Work even until armhole measures 8.5, (8.75, 9.5) " [46 (48, 52) rows].
Shoulder shaping: Work as for back.
 
SLEEVES:
Cast on 58 (62, 66) sts. Work in K2P2 ribbing for 1.5" (8 rows). Change to Reverse St st.
Dec 1 st at each end of every 16th (16th, 22nd) row 4 (4, 3)times to 50 (54, 60) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 16.5 (16.5,17)" [84 (84,86) rows]. Shape cap: BO 3 (3,4) sts at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 15 (17, 17) times [30 (34,34) rows]. BO remaining 14 (14,16) sts loosely.
 

SHOULDER SEAM:
Sew front to back along shoulder seams, using Reverse Stst as RS.
 
HIGH ROUND FRONT NECK COWL COLLAR:
With 16" circular needles and RS (Reverse St st side) of work facing, pick up and knit 6 sts from left back neck edge, 18 (20, 24) sts from back neck holder, 6 sts from right back neck edge, 11 (12, 13) sts from right front neck edge, 12 (12, 14) sts from front neck holder and 11 (12, 13) sts from left front neck edge. Total 64 (68, 76) sts.
Increase 4 sts evenly every 5th row 12x 112 (116, 124) sts (60 rows).
Work in K2P2 rib for 1.5". BO.
 
FINISHING:

Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams using invisible seam. Sew left shoulder and armhole seams.
Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
