PARTY NecktieEasy to Knit
Materials:
1-50 gr. ball of PARTY #410 (Firedance) nylon ribbon yarn
Size 8 needles CPY Bamboo Needles or CPY DAISY needles
[Note PARTY is a new lustrous ribbon yarn for Spring '05 and will arrive in Jan '05]The entire necktie is knit in garter st (all rows knit) with a little shaping.
Gauge: 5 sts/inch on size 8 needles. Be sure to check your gauge, a too-loose gauge will not behave well as a necktie. Loose knitters will need to use size 7 needles.
To knit the necktie:
Cast on 2 sts
Row 1: Inc in each st [4 sts]
Row 2: K1, inc 1 in each of next 2 sts, K1 [6 sts]
Row 3: K1, inc in 2nd st, K to 2nd to last st, inc, K1 [8 sts]
Row 4: repeat row 3 inc's 4 times (in 2nd and 2nd to last sts) until there are 16 sts on needle
Cont to K these 16 sts on all rows until tie measures 5" from tip
Dec 1 st in the 2nd st and 2nd from end of row [14 sts].
K even on 14 sts for 2.5 inches.
Dec 1 st in the 2nd st and 2nd from end of row [12 sts].
K even on 12 sts for 8 inches.
Dec 1 st in the 2nd st and 2nd from end of row [10 sts].
K even on 10 sts for 24 inches.
Dec 1 st in the 2nd st and 2nd from end of row [8 sts].
K even on 8 sts until tie measures 52" or desired length.
Dec 1 st in 2nd st and 2nd from last st. [6 sts].
Rep dec row twice more [4 sts, 2 sts]
Bind off last 2 sts.
