CO 88 (108) sts MC
1-3 MC: K
4 CC: P using a double strand (right-side row)
5 CC:K
6 MC: K
7 MC: P
First Increase row: K1 (1), inc in next st, *K2 (3), inc in next st* to
last 2 (2) sts, k to end. 117 (135) sts.
Cont in St st (K on right side, P on wrong side) until MC measures 3.5" in
from CC row. End by working a P row.
Work 2 rows CC as before, then 2 rows MC in St st.
Second increase row: K1 (1), inc in next st, *K3 (3), inc in next st*
to last 3 (1) sts, K to end. 146 (169) sts.
Cont in St st until MC measures 3.5" from CC row. End by working a P row. Work
2 rows CC. Then 2 rows MC.
Third increase row: K1 (1), inc in next st, *K4 (5), inc in next st* to
last 5 (5) sts, K to end. 176 (197) sts.
Cont in St st until MC measures 3.5" from CC row. End by working a P row.
Work 2 rows CC, 2 rows MC, 2 rows CC. Bind off
loosely with CC.
Make the Tie: With right side facing, pick up and K 36 sts along front
edge. K 1 row. Cont in garter st (K all rows), decreasing 1 st each end of
every row until
10 sts remain. Cont in garter st on these sts until tie measures 12". BO.
Repeat on other side of shrug.
