Cotton Chenille Pillow - knit in school colors

Choose a pair of colors from the huge range
in Cotton Chenille and knit a school colors pillow.

School Colors Pillow

Designed and Knit by Yuke Hong, UC Alumnae

Materials: Cotton Chenille - 50 grs.
6 balls #9717 "navy" - Color A
2 balls #1317 "buttercup" - Color B
US Size 10 Crystal Palace Bamboo or DAISY Needles
1 cable needle
1 - 14" pillow form

Gauge: 11.5 sts/4 inches in garter st holding 2 strands of Cotton Chenille together
(gauge is not very important)

Cast on 20 sts (double stranded) in Color A and 20 sts in Color B.
Knit all Color A section in garter st (K all rows)
Knit all color B section in St st with 6 st cable inserted with a P st border every 12 rows.
Twist colors A & B to prevent hole at the center of each row.

Rows 1-12:
Color A section: - all K rows
Color B section: - All Even rows: P6, K1, P6, K1, P6
Color B section: - All Odd Rows except row 11: K6, P1, K6, P1, K6
Color B section: - Row 11: Work Cable row this way: K6, P1, put 3 sts on cable needle hold in front of work, k3 sts, k3 sts from cable needle, p1, k6

Repeat these 12 rows until pillow measures 14" from beg.
On next Wrong Side (WS) row, knit across all in color A and work back of pillow in Color A entirely in garter st for 14 inches.

Sew 2 sides of pillow from WS, then reverse cover, insert 14" pillow form and sew remaining side.
