Merino Frappe Knit Kimono Jacket

This knit kimono style jacket is very soft and drapes beautifully.
Merino Frappe's 80% merino wool is brushed and very light.

Materials: Crystal Palace Merino Frappe (140 yards in a 50 gram ball)
11 skeins Main Color (MC)  & 1 skein each colors A, B, C and D
29” Circular needles sizes 6 and 8 US or size to obtain gauge
Stitch holders
Colors Used in Model:
MC:061-toffee; Color A:065-cinnamon toast or 017-rose sherbet, Color B:143-raspberry or 146-cherry pie, Color C: 137-periwinkle or 121-grape, & D: 016-fern or 091-forest
[Note: It would also be fine to use just 3 additional colors in band: A, B, C]

Finished Measurements:  Chest: 86”,  Length: 28”,  Sleeve length: 9”

Gauge: 4 sts = 1” and 6 rows = 1” on larger needles in stockinette stitch

Stitch Notes:
1. Seed Stitch (seed st) = Row 1: K1, P1, repeat to end of row. Row 2: Purl the knit stitches and knit the purl stitches as they face you.
2. Stockinette Stitch (st st) = Row 1 (RS): Knit. Row 2 (WS): Purl

Directions:
Fronts:
(Make 2)
Using smaller needles and MC, CO 72 sts. Work in seed st for 2”. Change to larger needles and work in st st until piece measures 28” from beginning. Place all stitches on holder.

Back:
Using smaller needles and MC, CO 168 sts. Work in seed st for 2”. Change to larger needles and work in st st until piece measures 28” from beginning. Knit 72 sts , BO center 24 sts, knit to end of row.
Join fronts to back at shoulders using three-needle bind off. Please markers at side edges of fronts and back 8” down from shoulder seam.


Sleeves:

Using larger needle and MC, pick up and knit 64 sts between markers on side edge. Work in st st until 7” from pick up . Change to smaller needles and work in seed st for 2”. BO.

Neck band:
Band Block Pattern:

Row 1 (RS): Knit
Row 2: (k1, p1) 4 times, k1, sl 1 purlwise with yarn in front, (k1, p1) 4 times, k1
Row 3: (k1, p1) 4 times, k3, (p1, k1) 4 times
Repeat rows 2 and 3 four times more, then work row 2 again – 12 rows
Using smaller needles and A, CO 19 sts.
Using band color sequence, work Band Block pattern, changing color with each row 1.
Band Color sequence:
(A, B, C, D, MC) 3 times, A, (MC, D, C, B, A) 3 times.

Finishing:
Sew one long edge of band to outside of front and neck edges of fronts and back. Fold band in half and sew remaining long edge to inside.
