Merino Stripes Mitered Squares Triangle Shawl

Designed and Knit by Gail Tanquary for Crystal Palace Yarns

Knit in either Small-60" (Large-72") size. The photo shows the small size.

Materials:
7 (10) - 50 gr. balls Merino Stripes col. 027 - "curry & spice"
CPY Circular Bamboo Needles or Daisy Needles:
Size 10.5 and 11 straight knitting needles, Size 10.5 - 40" circular needle, stitch marker

Merino Stripes is a very lightweight, softly brushed yarn. This entire shawl as seen at right uses only 7 - 50 gram balls of yarn. We hear people saying from seeing the photos and gauge that it is a "chunky" yarn - it isn't!

Gauge: 14 sts = 4" (10 cm) in St st.
The blocks in the shawl are 35 sts on a side or approx. 10 in.

Note: On sections 1-6 (10), always slip the first st as to purl.
To cast on after picking up sts, turn work, insert right needle between first two sts on left needle, pull up a loop and place on left-hand needle. Be sure to pull loop up high for a loose cast-on edge. Now insert right hand needle between st just made and second st on left needle, pull up a loop and place on left needle. Repeat until 35 sts have been cast on.
