This soft, airy pullover is decorated with
two knit leaves at the neck.
Merino Stripes is a brushed, lightweight yarn and you will use few balls to make this pullover.
Merino Stripes is a self-striping yarn and the color
changes are automatic.

Materials:
5 (6) (6) (7) (8) - 50 gr. balls Merino Stripes col. 027 - curry & spice
CPY Circular Bamboo Needles or Daisy Needles:
sizes US 9 (5.5mm) 26” circular and US 10 (6mm) 26” circular and OR size to obtain gauge
2 stitch markers each a different color

Gauge:
12 sts = 4 inches, and 18 rows = 4 inches, using size 10 needle in St st
Be sure to make a gauge swatch before beginning project.

Abbreviations:
Beg-beginning; BO-bind off; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; inc-increase; IncL-Increase left slant K- knit; K2tog- knit 2 stitches together; pm-place marker; psso- pass slip stitch over; PU-pick up; Sl 1- slip 1 sts knitwise; SSK- slip, slip, knit; Rem- remaining; Rep-repeat; Rnds-rounds; RS-right side; SSK- slip slip knit; St(s)-stitch (es); WS- wrong side; YO-yarn over.

Techniques:

IncL: Use left needle to pick up the top of the st below the stitch just knit. Lift stitch onto the left needle and knit it.

IncR: Use the right needle to pick up the top of the stitch below the stitch on the left needle. Lift it onto the left needle, knit it then knit the original stitch.

SSK: Slip 2 stitches, one at a time as if to knit, place tip of left needle through the front of these 2 stitches and knit together from this position.

Note A: Sweater body is worked in the round; divided at armholes then worked flat. Sleeves are worked flat.

Note B: When joining a new ball of yarn try to match the color sequence of the yarn where you are leaving off. Choose from the center or the outside end of the new ball.

Bottom Trim
Using size 9 needles, CO 102 (112) (120) (132) (144) (156) sts. Place marker and join into round, taking care that stitches aren’t twisted.
Rnd 1: Knit
Rnd 2: Purl
Rnd 3: *K2tog, YO; rep from * to end of round
Rnd 4: Purl 51 (56) (60) (66) (72) (78), PM (this marks the “side” seam where decreases will be made, so using a different color marker than the one to mark the beg of the round will be helpful, purl to end of round.

Body:
Change to size 10 needles, begin shaping sides as follows:
Knit 1 round.
Decrease Rnd: Slip beginning marker; SSK, knit to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog, slip marker, SSK, knit to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog. 98 (108) (116) (128) (140) (152) sts. (You will have 1 dec before and after each marker)
Knit 4 (5) (5) (5) (7) (8) rnds.
Repeat Decrease Rnd. 94 (104) (112) (124) (136) (148) sts.
Repeat last 5 (6) (6) (6) (8) (9) rnds once more 90 (100) (108) (120) (132) (144) sts.
Work even (knit every round) until piece measures 5 (5.25) (5.5) (5.5) (5.75) (6) “
from CO edge.
Increase Rnd: IncR, knit to marker, IncL, slip marker, IncR, knit to marker, IncL. 94 (104) (112) (124) (136) (148).
Rep increase Rnd every 15 (15) (17) (17) (17) (18) rnds; 2 times. 102 (112) (120) (132) (144) (156) sts.
Work even until piece measures 13 (13.5) (14) (14.25) (14.5) (15)” from CO.

Divide for Front and Back:
Working on 51 (56) (60) (66) (72) (78) sts, for the back, place rem sts on stitch holder for the front. You will now be working back and forth. Note the color sequence, so when you join yarn for the front of garment it matches the color sequence worked for the back.
Armhole Shaping:
BO 3 (3) (3) (4) (4) (5) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 45 (50) (54) (58) (64) (68) sts.
Work Decrease Row as follows:
Dec Row 1: K1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Row 2: Purl
Rep these 2 rows until 37 (42) (44) (48) (54) (58) sts rem. Work even in St st until armhole measures 4.5 (5) (5.5) (6) (6)”, ending with a WS row.

Shape Neck:
Working both sides at the same time, (1st shoulder) k 11 (12) (13) (14) (16) (17) sts, join another ball of yarn for 2nd shoulder, matching the color sequence of the new ball closely to color sequence for the 1st shoulder, BO 15 (18) (18) (20) (22) (24) sts, (2nd shoulder) knit rem 11 (12) (13) (14) (16) (17) sts.
Purl 1 Row.
Dec Row (RS): (1st shoulder) knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1; (2nd shoulder) k1, ssk, knit to end.
Rep last 2 rows until 6 (7) (8) (10) (11) (11) sts rem. Work even until armhole measures 7.5 (8) (8.5) (8.5) (9) (9.5)”, end after working WS row.

Shoulder Shaping:

Front:
Place stitches from stitch holder onto needle; join yarn with color matching the color sequence of previous ball of yarn.
Work same as for the back.

Sleeves: (Make 2)
Using size 9 needles CO 28 (28) (30) (30) (32) (34) sts.
Sleeve Trim:
Row 1 & 2: Knit
Row 3: K2, YO, * k2tog, YO; rep to last 2 sts, k2. 29 (29) (31) (31) (33) (35) sts.
Row 4: Knit

Sleeve Body:
Change to size 10 needle.
Working in St st, work 2 rows even.
Increase Row: K1, IncR, knit to last st IncL, k1. 31 (31) (33) (33) (35) (37) sts.
For size S Only:
Work Increase Row every row 14, 1 time; (33) sts; then begin working “For all sizes”.
For size M Only:

Work Increase Row every row 10; 1 time; (35) sts; then begin working “For all sizes”.
For size L Only:
Work Increase Row every row 10; 2 times; (37) sts; then begin working “For all sizes”.
For all sizes:

Sleeve Cap Shaping:

Work 2 rows even.

For sizes XS, M, XL:
Purl 1 row, BO rem sts.
For size S, L & 1X:
Work 3 rows even then BO rem sts.

Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams. Work Neck trim. Sew sleeve seams, sew sleeves into armholes. Make leaves. Use CO tail to tack to front neck edge. Work in all ends. Note: Using a Back stitch to seam sleeves into armhole, and Back stitch or Mattress stitch to sew sleeve seams keeps the yarn color used for seam from showing through the right side.
Neck Trim:
Using size 9 needles, beg at left shoulder, PU 14 (14) (14) (14) (14) (16) sts down the left front of neck edge, 15 (18) (18) (20) (22) (24) Neck sts; 14 (14) (14) (14) (14) (16) sts along right neck edge to shoulder seam, 14 (14) (14) (14) (14) (16) sts along right back neck edge; 15 (18) (18) (20) (22) (24) neck sts; 14 (14) (14) (14) (14) (16) sts along left back neck edge. 86 (92) (92) (96) (100) (112) sts.
Join and work rnds as follows:
Rnd 1: Purl
Rnd 2: *K2tog, YO, rep from *
Rnd 3: Purl
BO all sts in purl.

Leaves: (Make 2)
Start with yarn about 12” before the color changes to the next color. Leave a 10” tail.
Use size 9 needles CO 5 stitches

Row 1: (RS) K2, YO, k1, YO, k2. (7) sts
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl
Row 3: K3, YO ,k1, YO, k3. (9) sts
Row 5: K4, YO, k1, YO, k1, k4. (11) sts
