Materials:
Crystal Palace Yarns
Merino Stripes: 3–50 g balls, color #023 “Blue Jeans”
Crystal Palace Merino Frappe:
1-50 g ball, color #102 “Cornflower”
Crystal Palace Bamboo or
DAISY Needles:
US size # 9 straight or circular knitting needles
4 large stitch holders, Large eye yarn needle
The entire sweater is knit in garter stitch (knit all rows) except for the
(K1, P1) rib at the lower edge, sleeve cuffs, and neck.
Gauge: 14sts. = 4 in.; 28 rows (14 ridges) = 4 in. Use smaller or
larger needles to obtain gauge
Back:
1- With Merino Frappe, cast on 8 sts. and work 16 rows garter stitch (8
ridges).
2 - Change to Merino Stripes and work another 16 rows of garter stitch (8
ridges).
3 - Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge and 8 sts.
along Merino Frappe edge (16 sts. total) and knit 16 rows of garter stitch
(8 ridges). Put sts. on holder.
4 - Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge and 8 sts.
along Merino Frappe edge (16 sts. total) and knit 16 rows of garter stitch
(8 ridges). Put sts. on holder.
5 - Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge, 8 sts. along
Merino Frappe edge, and 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge (24 sts. total) and
knit 16 rows of garter stitch (8 ridges). Put sts. on holder.
6 - Turn work and pick up 24 sts. along Merino Stripes edges (including 8
sts. along original cast on) and knit 16 rows of garter stitch (8 ridges).
Put sts. on holder.
7 - Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge, 16 sts. from
stitch holder, and 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge (32 sts. total). Knit 16
rows of garter stitch (8 ridges). Put sts. on holder.
8 - Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge, 16 sts. from
stitch holder, and 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge (32 sts. total). Knit 16
rows of garter stitch (8 ridges). Bind off 32 sts.
9 - Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge, 24 sts. from
stitch holder, and 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge (40 sts. total). Knit 16
rows of garter stitch (8 ridges). Bind off 40 sts.
10 - Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge, 24 sts. from
stitch holder, and 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge (40 sts. total). Knit 16
rows of garter stitch (8 ridges). Bind off 40 sts.
11 Turn work and pick up 8 sts. along Merino Stripes edge, 32 sts. from
stitch holder, and 8 st. along Merino Stripes edge (48 sts. total). Knit 16
rows of garter stitch (8 ridges), dec 1 st. on last row. Cut Merino Stripes
and change to Merino Frappe
12 - Work 2” ribbing (K1, P1) on 47 sts. for bottom edge. Bind off
loosely. Place a safety pin on each side, 9-1/2’ from bottom of ribbing to
mark location for sleeves.
Front: Make same as back.
Sew front and back together at shoulders, attaching only the 12 sts. near
the shoulder edges, leaving the middle 24 stitches open for the neck.
Sleeves: Pick up 49 stitches along side edges of front and back
and between the safety pins. Work in garter stitch, decreasing 1 st. each
side every 6th row twice and then every 4th row until sleeve measures 9”.
Dec. to 25 sts. during last row. Work 2” ribbing (K1, P1) on 25 sts. Bind
off loosely. Repeat for 2nd sleeve.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
Stand-up Collar: Pick up 25 sts. along back neck edge and work in
K1, P1 ribbing for 1-1/2”. Bind off loosely. Sew sides of collar to front
neck edges.
