XS Women’s (4-5) = Foot Length 9.5”
S Women’s (6-7) = Foot Length 10”
M Women’s (8-9), Men’s (6-7) = Foot Length 10.5”
L Women’s (10-11), Men’s (8-9) = Foot Length 11”
XL Men’s (10-11) = Foot Length 11.5”

Abbreviations:
CC= contrast color; CO=cast on; Dec=decrease; K=knit; K2tog=knit 2 stitches together; MC=main color; P=purl; Psso=pass the slipped stitch over; Rem=remaining; Rnd=round; Sl 1 knitwise= slip 1 stitch as if to knit it; St=stitch; Stst= Stockinette stitch; YO=yarn over

Instructions
(Slipper is worked in the round.)
With CC, CO 54 (56, 58, 60, 62) sts on double-pointed needles. K1 x p1 rib for two rnds. Change to Stst and knit 6 more rnds. Change to MC and continue in Stst until piece measures 5 (5.5, 6, 6.5, 7)”. Break yarn. With scrap yarn*, k27 (28, 29, 30, 31). Break yarn. With MC, continue in Stst until piece measures 13 (14, 15, 16, 17)” from beginning. Begin toe.

* If possible, use a cotton or other non-wool yarn as the scrap yarn. A wool yarn will stick to the Fjord and will make it more difficult to pull out the yarn when you are ready to work the heel.

Toe:
Dec Rnd 1: [k2, sl1 knitwise, k1, psso, k19 (k20, k21, k22, k23], k2tog, k2, place marker] 2x.
Work 3 rnds even.
Dec Rnd 2: (k2, sl1 knitwise, k1, psso, k to 4 st before marker, k2tog, k2) 2x
Work 2 rnds even.
Dec Rnd 2.
Work 2 rnds even.
Dec Rnd 2.
Work 1 rnd even.
Dec Rnd 2.
Work 1 rnd even.
Dec Rnd 2.
Work 1 rnd even.
Continue to work Dec Rnd 2 every rnd until 14 (12, 14, 12, 14) sts rem. Sew up rem sts.

Heel:
Carefully pull out scrap yarn. Pick up the 54 (56, 58, 60, 62) open sts.** Work one rnd even. (Don’t’ worry about the hole at each side of the heel beginning. It will disappear during the felting process.) Then begin dec same as for toe. Sew up rem sts.

** You may want to pick up the sts onto needles before you take out the scrap yarn.

Finishing:
Weave in all ends. Place slippers in lingerie bag and put in washing machine with a small load of like-colored laundry. Use the regular setting, cool or warm water. Run through cycle for about 5-10 minutes and check size. Put it back in machine for a little longer if not quite reduced to desired size. Take out and put slippers on your feet to mold into foot-shape. Wear them for a little bit, then leave them to dry.
