Designed and Knit by Gail Tanquary for Crystal Palace Yarn Sizes: finished 36, (40, 44, 48) inches Sizing Note: This is a close-fitting garment. If the wearer's bust measures 32-36 inches, she should make size 36, if she measures 38-40" she should choose size 40, and so forth. If they follow the usual rule of leaving 3-4" ease larger than their measurement, it will be too loose fitting. Materials Gauge: 14 sts = 4 inches (10 cm) (3.5 sts/inch) on larger needles Next row: Inc 1 st at beginning and end of row.
Using larger circular needle, knit across sleeve. Place a marker on the work at the right edge to designate end of sleeve shaping. Back: Using smaller needle, cast on 64 (70, 76, 84) sts. Work in K1-P1 rib for 2.5 inches. Place marker on needle holding right sleeve, knit across back. Left Sleeve: Work as right sleeve. End by working a WS row. Place
marker on circular needle holding right sleeve and back, and knitting across
place marker on the work at left edge to designate end of sleeve shaping. Left front border: Using smaller straight needle and with right side
facing, pick up and knit 39 (43, 47, 51) sts along edge to marker at end of
sleeve shaping. Work 2.5" in K1-P1 ribbing. Bind off using tip of larger
straight needle. Top border: Using smaller circular needle, pick up and knit 10 sts along side of right border just completed, knit next 25 sts, knit to first marker, decreasing 5 sts evenly spaced, knit the 2 sts between markers together (remove markers), knit to last 25 sts, decreasing 5 sts evenly spaced, then knit last 25 sts, pick up and knit 10 sts along top of left border. Work in K1-P1 ribbing for 2.5 inches. Bind off loosely using tip of larger straight needle. Finishing: Sew sleeve seam and underarm ribbing edges together. Sew large snap to front comers and attach decorative button or knitted flower on top if desired. Knitted Flower Trim: Cast on 57 sts and 10.5 straight needles. Purl
