Materials
4 (5, 5, 6, 6) 50 gr balls of Crystal Palace Crème (wool/silk) color #2009 "royal blue"
Crystal Palace Bamboo or Daisy Needles US Size 8 needles or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge
6 sts and 6.5 rows=1” over Pattern Stitch

Pattern Stitch
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 & 11 (RS):
*p3, k1; rep from *, end p3
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12: *k3, p1; rep from *, end k3
Rows 13 & 15: p1, *k1, p3; rep from *, end k1, p1
Rows 14 & 16: k1, *p1, k3; rep from *, end p1, k1
Rep these 16 rows.

Instructions

Back
CO 97 (109, 121, 133, 145) sts. Work first and last st of each row in Stockinette St as a selvedge st and work rem sts in Pattern Stitch until piece measures 12 (12, 13, 13, 13)”.
BO 3 (5, 6, 7, 9) sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Keeping to pattern, dec 1 st each end every other row 3 (6, 7, 9, 11) times – 85 (87, 95, 101, 105) sts
Cont in Pattern Stitch until armhole measures 7 (7½, 8, 8½, 9)” and piece meas 19 (19½, 21, 21½, 22) " from beg.
BO 8 (8, 9, 9, 10) sts beg of next 2 rows. BO 8 (8, 9, 10, 10) sts beg of next 2 rows. BO 8 (8, 9, 10, 10) sts beg of next 2 rows.
Place 37 (39, 41, 43, 45) sts on holder for back neck.

Front
Work as for Back, including all shaping. When piece meas 17½ (18, 19, 20, 20½) " from beg, work neck shaping: Cont in pat as estab, work 30 (30, 34, 36, 37) sts, place 25 (27, 27, 29, 31) sts on holder, attach a new ball of yarn, work last 30 (30, 34, 36, 37) sts. Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 6 (6, 7, 7, 7) times. Cont in Pattern Stitch until piece measures same as back. Work shoulder shaping same as Back.

Mock Turtleneck
(Note: If desired, seam both shoulders and work collar on circular or double point needles instead, making adjustments as needed.)
Seam right shoulder. With RS facing, beg at left neck edge, pick up 12 (12, 13, 13, 13) sts, k 25 (27, 27, 29, 31) sts from front neck holder, pick up 12 (12, 13, 13, 13) sts along right neck edge, k 37 (39, 41, 43, 45) sts from back neck holder – 86 (90, 94, 98, 102) sts. Work first and last st of each row in Stockinette St as a selvedge st and work rem sts as follows:
Row 1: *k3, p1; rep from *
Row 2: *p3, k1; rep from *
Rep these 2 rows for 2½ inches. BO in pat.

Armhole Edging
Seam other shoulder.
With RS facing, pick up 86 (86, 90, 90, 94) sts along armhole.
Work first and last st of each row in Stockinette St as a selvedge st and work rem sts as follows:
Row 1: *k3, p1; rep from *
Row 2: *p3, k1; rep from *
Rep these 2 rows for ¾ inch. BO in pat.
Rep for other armhole.

Finishing
Seam sides. Weave in ends on WS.
