EASY TO KNIT

MATERIALS: 7 (8, 8) 100% balls Crystal Palace Iceland, 100% Soft Wool, color 9628 Periwinkle,
10 and 10-1/2 Crystal Palace Bamboo Knitting Needles or Daisy Needles size to get correct gauge, 16" circular needle size 10, st holders)

Finished measurements: chest 40.5 (42.5, 44, 46, 48-1/2)"

Gauge: 14 sts = 4" (10 cm) in St st on larger needles. Be sure to check your gauge with a swatch before beginning to knit the pullover.

PATTERN STITCHES:
1. k1,p1 ribbing.
2. St st: k right side (RS) rows, p wrong side (WS) rows.
3. Lattice Pattern:

Row 1 (RS): k4, * p5, k7, rep from *, ending last rep k4 instead of k7.
Row 2 and all even rows: k the k sts and p the p sts as they face you.
Row 3: k3, * p3, k1, p3, k5, rep from *, ending last rep k3 instead of k5.
Row 5: k2, * p3, k3, rep from*, ending last rep k2 instead of k3.
Row 7: k1, * p3, k5, p3, k1, rep from * across.
Row 9: p3, * k7, p5, rep from*, ending last rep p3 instead of p5.
Row 11: p2, * k9, p3, rep from *, ending last rep p2 instead of p3.
Row 13: rep row 9.
Row 15: rep row 7.
Row 17: rep row 5.
Row 19: rep row 3.
Row 21: rep row 1.
Row 23: k5, * p3, k9, rep from *, ending last rep k5 instead of k9.
Row 24: rep row 2.
Repeat these 24 rows for Lattice pat.

BACK: with smaller needles cast on 71(75,77,81,85) sts and work in k1, p1 rib for 1-1/2", end on WS. Change to larger needles and work:

Row 1 (RS): k5 (1,2,4,0), place marker, work in lattice pat on next 61(73,73,73,85) sts, place marker, k last 5(1,2,4,0) sts.

Row 2: p to first marker, work in lattice pat to last marker, p to end. Keeping sts between markers in lattice pat and remaining sts in St st, work evenly until 11" from beg or desired length to underarms, end on WS. Mark each edge of last row for start of armholes. Continue until 19-1/2 (19-1/2, 20, 20, 20)" from beg, end on WS.

Shape shoulders: at beg of next 2 rows bind off 19(21,22,24,26) sts. Slip remaining 33 sts onto holder for back of neck.

FRONT: work same as back until 16-1/2(16-1/2, 17,17,17)" from beg, end on WS.

Shape neck: keeping to pat, work across 25(27,28,30,32) sts, slip next 21 sts onto a holder, join 2nd ball of yarn and work across remaining sts. Working each side separately but at the same time, dec one st each neck edge every other row 6 times. Work evenly on 19(21,22,24,26) sts of each side until same length as back. Bind off all sts for shoulders.

3/4-LENGTH SLEEVES: with smaller needles cast on 41 sts and work in k1, p1 rib for 1-1/2," inc 4 sts evenly spaced on last row and end on WS, 45 sts. Change to larger needles, work:

Row 1: (RS): k 16, place marker, work in lattice pat on next 13 sts, place marker, k 16.

Row 2: p to first marker, work in lattice pat to last marker, p to end. Keeping sts between markers in lattice pat and remaining sts in St st, inc one st each side every 4th row 9(9,11,11,11) times. Work evenly on 63(63,67,67,67) sts until 14" from beg or desired length, end on WS. Bind off all sts.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves along straight edge of armholes be-tween markers. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Neckband: with RS facing and using circular needle, k the k sts and p the p sts across 33 sts from back holder, pick up and k 20 sts along left front neck edge to holder, k the k sts and p the p sts across 21 sts from front holder, pick up and k 20 sts along right front neck edge to shoulder, 94 sts. Work around in k1, p1 rib for l-1/2". Bind off loosely in rib.
