Back
Using size 6 needle and MC CO 42 (46) (50) (52) sts. Begin 4-Stitch Rib Pattern as follows:

Row 1: K3 (5) (3) (4), *p4, k4; rep from * to last 7 (9) (7) (0) sts; end p4 (4) (4) (0), k3 (5) (3) (0).
Repeat Row 1 until piece meas 5.5 (6) (6.5) (7)” from CO edge.
Armhole Shaping
BO 2 sts at beginning next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end every RS row 1 (1) (1) (2) times. Work even in pattern as estab, until armhole meas 4 (4.75) (5) (5.25)”.
Shoulder and Neck Shaping

Left Front

Begin 4-Stitch Rib Pattern as follows:

Repeat Row 1 until piece meas 5.5 (6) (6.5) (7)”from CO Edge, end after working WS row.

Armhole
BO 2 sts at beginning of next row. Dec 1 sts armhole edge every RS row 1 (1) (1) (2) times. 17 (19) (21) (22) sts.

Neck Shaping

Work same as for Left front reversing shaping.

Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Work Collar. Work button bands. Sew buttons opposite buttonholes. Sew side seams. Work in all ends. Steam Block.

Collar
With RS facing, using size 6 needle and CC pick up 4 (4) (5) (5) sts from right front neck holder, 10 (12) (12) (13) sts from right front neck edge, 16 (18) (22) (22)sts from back neck holder, 10 (12) (12) (13) sts from left front neck edge and 4 (4) (5) (5) sts from left front neck holder. 44 (50) (56) (58) sts.
Knit 3 rows. Change to size 8 needle and knit Every row until collar meas 2 (2.5) (2.50 (3) or desired depth. BO loosely.

Button bands for Boy
Right Front
With RS facing using size 5 needle beginning at lower edge pick up and knit 46 sts along front edge. Knit 5 rows. BO all sts.
Left Front (button hole band)
With RS facing using size 5 needle, beginning at top edge, pick up and knit 42 (42) (46) (46) sts along front edge. Knit 1 rows. Buttonhole Row (RS): K2 sts, BO 2 sts, (knit 7 (7) (6) (6) sts, BO 2 sts) 4 (4) (5) (5) times; knit to end of row.
Next row knit, CO 2 sts over the BO sts. Knit 2 rows. BO all sts.

for Girl
Work same as for boy, but reverse button bands.
