Palace Yarns Cameo; Color #9800, Painted Iris
1 button, 1-1/4”
Optional: 5” thin ribbon for button
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles or Daisy Needles:
Size S/M:
Size 10- ¾ (7mm) 29” circular needle
Size L:
Size 11 (8mm) 29” circular needle
Note: Piece is worked back and forth, circular needle is used to accommodate
the large number of stitches.
Gauge:
Size S/M:
14 sts and 21 rows = 4” (10 cm) using size 10-¾ (7mm) 29” circular needle;
in Stockinette stitch
Size L:
12 sts and 19 rows = 4” using size 11 (8mm) 29” circular needle; in
Stockinette stitch
Be sure to make a swatch before beginning project.
Abbreviations:
BO-bind off; CO-cast on; K-knit; PM-place marker; P-purl; Rep-repeat;
RS-right side; sl-1-slip 1 stitch purlwise; St(s)-stitch (es); WS- wrong
side.
Bottom Band:
Using size 10-¾ (11) needle; CO 180 sts.
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: *P1, k1; rep from * to end of row.
Repeat these 2 rows for a total of 6 rows.
Begin Body.
Body:
Note: When joining new ball
of yarn, join after working 4 stitches of the seed stitch front band.
Keeping the join on WS of garment.
Row 1: K1, p1, k1, p1, sl-1, p2, k6, p2, PM, k18 (this number will be
reduced by 1 after each decrease row), PM, k30 (this number will be reduced
by 2 after each decrease row), PM, k54 (this number will be reduced by 2
after each decrease row), PM, k30 (this number will be reduced by 2 after
each decrease row), PM, k18 (this number will be reduced by 1 after each
decrease row), PM, p2, K6, p2, sl-1, k1, p1, k1, p1.
Row 2: P1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k2, p6, k2, slip marker; purl to last marker,
slip marker, k2, p6, k2, p2, k1, p1, k1.
Row 3: (Decrease and Cable Row) K1, p1, k1, p1, sl-1, p2, slip 3 sts to
cable needle hold to back, knit next 3 sts, then knit 3 sts from cable
needle, p2, slip marker; knit to 2 sts before marker k2tog, slip marker,
ssk, knit to 2 sts before marker k2tog, slip marker, ssk, knit to 2 sts
before next marker k2 tog, slip marker, ssk, knit to 2 sts before next
marker k2tog, slip marker, ssk, knit to marker, slip marker, p2, slip next 3
sts to cable needle hold to front, knit next 3 sts, then knit 3 sts from
cable needle, p2, sl-1, k1, p1, k1, p1. (8 sts have been decreased).
Row 4: Same as Row 2.
Repeat these 4 rows 11 more times. (96 sts have been decreased). 84 sts
remain. End after working row 4. Markers may be removed.
Neckband:
CO 8 stitches at the beginning of the row (92 sts on needle).
Row 1: * K1, p1; rep from *to end of row.
Row 2: *P1, k1; rep to end of row.
Row 3: K1, p1, k1, BO next 2 sts in pattern (buttonhole); p1, * k1, p1; rep
from * to end of row.
Row 4: *P1, k1; rep from * to BO sts, CO 2 sts, continue pattern as
established.
Row 5: Rep Row 1.
Row 6: Rep Row 2.
BO all sts firmly in seed pattern as established.
Finishing:
Work in all ends. Damp block: Pin out and spray with water. Use kitchen
weight towels to weight bottom band so it will lay flat. Let air dry. Sew on
Button.
Optional: Thread ribbon through button to cover the thread, knot
on WS. Trim ends.
