Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles or Daisy Needles:
Sizes US 10-1/2 (6.5mm) and US 10-3/4 (7mm) straight or circular; Size 10 (6.mm) 16 or 24” circular (the first 3 sizes use 16”, remaining sizes can use 16 or 24”) OR Size to obtain gauge
Cable needle
2 stitch holders
[Note: both CPY Bamboo Needles and DAISY Needles come in size 10-3/4 (7mm). We have seen a discussion on KnittersReview forum saying this size needle is not available in the USA, not so.]

Tip: Before beginning to knit this sweater, highlight the size you are following throughout the pattern to make it easier to follow.

Materials:
Crystal Palace CAMEO, col. #0215  'rose dust' 12 (13) (14) (16) (17) (18) (20) (22) 50 gr balls; ADD 1 ball for men’s sizes due to increased length.
Cameo is 80% merino wool/ 20% nylon

Gauge:
14 sts/4 in. & 20 rows/4 in., using size 10-3/4 needle in St st
18 sts/4 in. with 10-3/4 needle over 28 Center Cable Panel sts
Be sure to make a gauge swatch before beginning project.

Abbreviations:
Beg-beginning; BO-bind off; C6B-cable 6 back; C6F-cable 6 front; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; inc-increase; IncL-Increase left slant; IncR-Increase right slant; K- knit; K2tog- knit 2 stitches together; patt-pattern; pm-place marker; St st-Stockinette stitch rem-remain(ing);
C6B: Slip next 3 stitches to Cable Needle, hold these stitches to the back, knit next 3 stitches on left needle, then knit the 3 stitches from the Cable Needle
C6F: Slip next 3 stitches to Cable Needle, hold these stitches to the front, knit next 3 stitches on left needle, then knit the 3 stitches from the Cable Needle
IncL: Use left needle to pick up the top of the st below the stitch just knit. Lift stitch onto the left needle and knit it.
IncR: Use the right needle to pick up the top of the stitch below the stitch on the left needle. Lift it onto the left needle, knit it, and then knit the original stitch.
SSK: Slip 2 stitches, one at a time as if to knit, place tip of left needle through the front of these 2 stitches, knit together.

Back:
Using size 10-1/2 needles, CO 69 (73) (77) (81) (85) (93) (101) (105) sts. Work in Welt pattern as follows:
Row 1: K
Row 2: P
Row 3: P
Row 4: K
Rep these 4 rows 1 time. Rep Rows 1,2 & 3 once again. A total of 11 rows have been worked.

Change to size 10-3/4 needles, beg pattern as follows:
Row 1: K22 (24) (26) (28) (32) (36) (38) (40), p2, k6, p2, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p2, k6, p2, k22 (24) (26) (28) (32) (36) (38) (40).
Row 2: P22 (24) (26) (28) (32) (36) (38) (40), k2, p6, k3, p1, k1, p1, k3 p6, k2, p22 (24) (26) (28) (32) (36) (38) (40).
Cable Row 3: K22 (24) (26) (28) (32) (36) (38) (40), p2, C6F, p2, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p2, C6B, p2, k22 (24) (26) (28) (32) (36) (38) (40).
Row 4: Work as row 2
Row 5: Work as row 1
Row 6: Work as row 2
Row 7: Work as row 1
Row 8: Work as row 2
Rep these 8 rows until piece measures:

Men’s Sizes:

or desired length to underarm, from CO edge, end after working WS row.

NOTE: When measuring length, measure in middle of St st section on either side of cable panel.

Armhole Shaping:
BO3 (3) (4) (4) (4) (4) (5) (5) at beg next 2 rows. 63 (67) (69) (73) (77) (85) (91) (95) sts. Continue to work pattern rows as established decreasing 1 st at each armhole edge as follows:
Dec Row: K1, ssk, patt to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Work Dec row every other row for total of 3 (3) (4) (4) (4) (6) (7) (7) times. 57 (61) (61) (60) (65) (69) (73) (77) (81) sts. Work in patt as established until armhole meas 8 (8.5) (9) (9.5) (10) (10.5) (11) (11.5)” end after working WS row.

Shape Neck and shoulder shaping:
Neck and shoulder shaping occur at same time.
For Sizes 34.5 (36) (38.75) (41) (43.25) (47.5):
Working both sides at same time, join 2nd ball after placing neck sts on holder; BO 8 (9) (9) (9) (10) (11) sts at armhole edge at beg of next 2 rows, place 25 (25) (27) (27) (29) (29) sts to holder for neck;
AT THE SAME TIME Dec 1 st at each neck edge once.
BO7 (8) (8) (9) (9) (10) sts at armhole edge at beg of next 2 rows.

For Size 52.5 (54.75):
Work both sides at same time, join 2nd ball after placing neck sts on holder; BO7 (8) at armhole edge at beg of next 4 rows, slip next 31 sts to holder,
AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at each neck edge once. BO remaining 8 sts at armhole at beg of next 2 rows.

Front:
Work same as for back until piece measures 5 (5) (5.5) (5.5) (6) (6) (6) (6.5)” above armhole BO. End after working WS row 4,6 or 8.
Working both sides at same time, work across 21 (23) (23) (25) (27) (28) (30) (32) sts, slip center 15 (15) (15) (15) (15) (17) (17) (17) sts to holder, join 2nd ball, work across rem 21 (23) (23) (25) (27) (28) (30) (32) sts.
Working both sides at same time work 1 row even.

Shape Neck:
Note: You will discontinue cable but will keep sts in pattern until decreased and worked into St st.
Decrease Row:
1st side; work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1; 2nd side; k1, ssk, work across rem sts. Work Dec row every RS row for total of 6 (6) (6) (6) (7) (7) (7) (7) times 15 (17) (17) (18) (19) (21) (22) (24) sts rem on each side. Work even until armhole measures same as for back, end after working WS row. Beg shoulder shaping.
Shape Shoulders:
For Sizes 34.5 (36) (38.75) (41) (43.25) (47.5):
Working both sides at same time, BO 8 (9) (9) (9) (10) (11) sts at armhole edge at beg of next 2 rows, BO7 (8) (8) (9) (9) (10) sts at armhole edge at beg of next 2 rows.
For Size 52.5 (54.75):
Work both sides at same time, BO7 (8) at armhole edge at beg of next 4 rows. BO remaining 8 sts at armhole at beg of next 2 rows.

Sleeves:  (Make 2)
Using size 10-½ needles CO35 (35) (35) (39) (39) (39) (43) (43) sts. Work in rib as follows
Row 1: K

Row 3: P
Row4: K
Rep these 4 rows once more.
Rep row 1, 2 & 3, once again. A total of 11 rows have been worked.
Sleeve Body:  Change to 10-¾ needle and begin pattern as follows:

Sleeve Cap Shaping:
BO3 (3) (4) (4) (4) (4) (5) (5) at the beginning of next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st at each end as follows, k1, ssk, patt across row to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1; rep dec row every 4th row, 3 (3) (4) (4) (4) (4) (5) (5) times & every other row (10) (10) (9) (10) (10) (11) (10) (11) times. BO all rem sts.

Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams. Work Neck trim. Sew sleeves into armholes; sew sleeve and underarm seams. Work in all ends.

Neck Trim:
