DAISY: size 10.5 (6.5mm) 35 or 40" circular
needle; OR size to
obtain gauge.
Size 9, 10.5 & 15 single point needles
[size 15 is only used for binding off loosely]
Stitch holder, stitch markers
4 or 5 buttons
Abbreviations:
beg - beginning, BO - bind off, CO - cast on, cont - continue, inc - increase, K
- knit, P - purl, patt - pattern, st(s) - stitch(es), SP - single point, PM -
place stitch marker, rep - repeat, tog - together, yo - yarn over, RS - Right
Side, WS - wrong side
Gauge: 14 sts = 4" in garter st on size 10.5
needles
Eyelet Pattern
Rows 1 & 5: Knit
Rows 2, 4, 6, 7, 8: Purl
Row 3: K1, P1, *yo, P2tog*. Rep between * top last st, end K1.
BACK - CO 63 (71, 77, 85) sts. Work in garter st, until
piece measures 8.5 (9, 9.5, 10)" from CO edge. End by working a right-side row.
P 3 rows. Place sts on st holder or spare circular needle.
SLEEVES - CO 53 (55, 59, 61) sts with smallest
straight needle. Work in K1-P1 rib for 1". End by working a WS row. Change
to size 10.5 needle, K next row, inc 8 (10, 10, 12) sts evenly spaced across row. P 3
rows, then work Rows 1-8 or Eyelet Pattern 2X, inc 1
st each end of row 5 on both repeats - 65 (69, 73, 77) sts. Cut yarn and place
sts on holder.
Make 2nd sleeve in same manner, but do not cut yarn at
end of final row 8 of second repeat. Turn.
JOIN SLEEVES TO BACK. (right side -
largest size numbers edited -march 25, '07) BO 32 (34, 36,
39) sts, K to last st, K this st together with first st of back, K across
back to last st, K this st together with first st of second sleeve, K to
end. Next row: BO 32, (34, 36, 39) sts, P to end: 127 (139, 149, 163) sts.
Sleeves are now attached to back.
CONTINUE AS FOLLOWS:
K1, (P2tog, yo) 14 (15, 16, 17) times, (P1, yo) 8 times, P1,
(yo, P2 tog) 26 (30, 33, 36) times,
(yo, P1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog) 14 (15, 16, 17) times, K1 - 143 (155, 165, 175)
sts.
Work eyelet pattern rows 4-8, then rows 1-2.
K1, (P2tog, yo) 16 (17, 18, 19) times, (P1, yo) 8 times, P1,
(yo, P2 tog) 30 (34, 37, 40) times,
(yo, P1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog) 16, (17, 18, 19) times, K1 - 159 (171, 181, 191)
sts.
Work eyelet pattern rows 4-8, then rows 1-2.
K1, (P2tog, yo) 18 (19, 20, 21) times, (P1, yo) 8 times, P1,
(yo, P2 tog) 34 (38, 41, 44) times,
(yo, P1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog) 18 (19, 20, 21) times, K1 - 175 (187, 197, 207)
sts.
Work eyelet pattern rows 4-8, then rows 1-2.
K1, (P2tog, yo) 20 (21, 22, 23) times, (P1, yo) 8 times, P1,
(yo, P2 tog) 38 (42, 45, 48)times,
(yo, P1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog) 20 (21, 22, 23), K1 - 191 ( 203, 213, 223) sts.
Stop here for size 36. Go to neck shaping.
For larger sizes, work eyelet pattern rows 4-8, then rows 1-2.
[for sizes 40, 44, 48] K1, (P2tog, yo) 0 (23, 24, 25)
times, (P1, yo) 8 times, P1, (yo, P2 tog) 0 (46, 49, 52) times,
(yo, P1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog) 0 (23, 24, 25) times, K1 - 0 (219, 229, 239) sts.
Stop here for size 40. Go to neck shaping.
For larger sizes, work eyelet pattern rows 4-8, then rows 1-2.
[for sizes 44, 48] K1, (P2tog, yo) 0 (0, 26, 27) times,
(P1, yo) 8 times, P1, (yo, P2 tog) 0 (0, 53, 56) times, (yo, P1) 8 times, (yo,
P2 tog) 0 (0, 26, 27) times, K1 - 0 (0, 245, 255) sts.
Stop here for size 44. Got to neck shaping.
For largest size, work eyelet pattern rows 4-8, then rows 1-2.
[For size 48] K1, (P2tog, yo) 0 (0. 0. 29) times, (P1,
yo) 8 times, P1, (yo, P2 tog) 0 (0. 0. 60) times, (yo, p1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog)
0 (0, 0, 29) times, K1 - 0(0, 0, 271) sts.
Go to neck shaping.
NECK SHAPING

Row 4: P
Row 5: BO 5 sts, K to end.
Row 6: BO 5 sts, P to end
Row 7: K2 tog, K to last st, K2 tog.
Row 8: P2 tog, P to last st, P2 tog.
Row 1: K2 tog, K to last st, K2 tog.
Row 2: P 175 (203, 229, 255)
K1, (P2tog, yo) 20 (23, 26, 29) times, (P1, yo) 8 times, P1, (yo, P2
tog) 38 (46, 53, 60) times,
(yo, P1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog) 20 (23, 26, 29) times, K1 - 191 (219, 245, 271)
sts.
Work eyelet pattern rows 4-8. Then 1-2, K1, (P2tog, yo) 22 (25, 28, 31)
times, (P1, yo) 8 times, P1, (yo, P2 tog) 42 (50, 57, 64) times,
(yo, P1) 8 times, (yo, P2 tog) 22 (25, 28, 31) times, K1 - 191 (219, 245, 271)
sts.
Work eyelet pattern rows 4-8. Then 1-2.
P one row - K 1 row - P30, PM, P to end - P 3 rows.
Buttonhole row: K to marker. For 4 buttonholes, (K2 tog, yo, K8) four
times.
For 5 buttonholes, (K2 tog, yo, K4) five times. P 3 rows. End by working a WS row.
BO loosely using tip of size 15 needle. Do not cut yarn.
With size 9 needle, PU and K 70 (72, 74, 76) sts around neck. K one
row.
Next row: K3, K2 tog, yo, K to end (buttonhole formed in neck edge). Work
5 rows garter st. BO using size 9 needle. Fasten off.
With size G crochet hook and RS facing, work 1 row single crochet around
front edges and bottom of
sweater. Now work 1 row reverse sc in each stitch around. Fasten off.
