Gauge
Over stockinette in Iceland, 11.5 sts and 14 rows=4 with IcelandMaterials
Size 11 US (8 mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Snap2 100 gr balls Iceland - color 9628 - Periwinkle
1 50 gr ball Dragonfly - color 9608 - Violet PotpourriSize
Approximately 9 long x 9 wide at top and 11.5 wide at bottom after feltingInstructions
With one strand of Iceland and Dragonfly held together, CO 29 sts. Work in st st 6 rows. Cut Dragonfly.
Cont in st st and with Iceland, inc one st at each end.
Cont in st st, inc 1 st at each end every 6th row 7 more times (45 sts).
Work 4 rows even. One side completed. Do not cut yarn.
Work 4 rows even.
P row: Dec 1 st at each end
Cont in st st, dec 1 st at each end every 6th row 7 more times (29 sts).
With one strand of Iceland and Dragonfly held together, work even in st st 6 rows. BO.
Handle
With Iceland, CO 120 sts. K 2 rows. BO.Finishing
With WS together, fold in half. Sew side seams. Sew handle to inside seam on each end.Weave in ends on WS.
Felt
Put the bag in the washer along with a pair of jeans or canvas tennis shoes. Use a small amount of detergent and a low water level with a hot temperature. Wash for five minutes. Stop the cycle and check to see if is felted as tightly as desired; the longer you wash it, the smaller and more felted it will become. If the bag is not quite felted enough, continue washing and carefully check every few minutes. When felted, remove and rinse in cold water. Blot with towel. Shape the bag; the fabric will still be malleable so dont be afraid to pull it in various directions. Once it is the desired size and shape, you can stuff it with plastic bags if needed. Allow to dry completely.Sew on snap.
