DAISY Needles -
US size 10 (6mm) and 10 3/4 (7mm) straight, Size H crochet hook
Abbreviations:
BO-bind off; beg - begin (ning), CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; Inc-increase; k-knit;
PU-pick up; p-purl; rep-repeat; RS-right side; St(s)-stitch (es); WS-wrong side.
Gauge:
15 1/2 sts and 24 rows = 4” in Reverse Double Mock Rib
For correct sizing, be sure to do a gauge swatch.
Back
Using larger needles, CO42 (46, 50, 54) sts. Beg working stitch pattern as
follows:
Stitch Pattern:
Reverse Double Mock Rib: (Multiple of 4 + 2)
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P2* keeping yarn at front of work sl2 purlwise, p2; rep from * to
end. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 4 (5, 5 1/2, 6)” from cast on
edge.
Armhole
Mark beg and end of the last row for beg of armhole. Continue to work rows 1 & 2
of pattern until armhole measures 5 (5 1/4, 6, 6 1/2)” from markers, piece will
measure a total of 9 (10 1/4, 11 1/2, 12 1/2)” from CO edge. BO all stitches,
mark 13 (15, 16, 17) sts at each end for shoulders.
Right Front
Using larger needles, CO22 (22, 26, 26) sts. Work in stitch pattern until piece
measures 4 (5, 5 1/2, 6)” from CO edge.
Armhole
Mark beg and end of the last row for armhole. Continue to work rows 1 & 2 of
pattern until armhole measures 3 1/2 (4, 4 1/2, 5)” from markers, end after
working WS row.
Shape Neck and shoulders
RS facing BO5 (4, 5, 5) sts at beg of the next row; work 18 (18, 21, 21) sts in
pattern. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 4 (3, 5, 4) times. Work all dec sts
into pattern as established. [13 (15, 16, 17) sts]. Work even on remaining sts
for shoulder until piece measures 9 (10 1/4, 11 1/2, 12 1/2)” from cast on edge.
BO.
Left Front
Using larger needles, CO22 (22, 26, 26) sts. Work in stitch pattern until piece
measures 4 (5, 5 1/2, 6)” from CO edge.
Armhole
Mark beg and end of the last row for armhole. Continue to work rows 1 & 2 of
pattern until armhole measures 3 1/2 (4, 4 1/2, 5)” from markers, end after
working RS row.

Sleeves
Using larger needles, CO22 (22, 26, 30) sts. Work 4 rows of stitch pattern. Inc
1 st at each end of next row and every 2 rows 4 (5, 1, 0) times and every 4 rows
3 (3, 6, 9) times. Work all inc stitches into pattern as established. [38 (40,
42, 50) sts].
Work even in pattern until sleeve measures 6 (6 1/2, 7, 7 1/2)” from CO edge.
BO.
Hood
Using larger needles, CO58 (62, 66, 70) sts. Work 4 rows of stitch pattern. Dec
1 st at beg and end of next row, then every 4 (4, 6, 6) rows 4 times. Work all
dec stitches into pattern as established. [48 (52, 56, 60) sts]. Work even until
piece measures 6 (6 1/2, 7, 8)” from CO edge. BO, place marker at the center of
the BO stitches.
Finishing
Sew shoulders. RS together, fold hood in half to marker, sew seam for center
back of hood. Sew bottom edge of hood to neck edge of sweater. Sew sleeves to
armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams. Work front bands. Evenly space and sew
buttons on right band for boy and left band for girl. Mark
placement for button loops on opposite side, make button loops. Weave in all
ends.
Front Edge
Left Edge-Using smaller needles, RS facing, beg at left front neck edge
(where hood is seamed to neck) PU38 (44, 48, 54) sts along front edge. BO all
sts.
Right Edge-Using smaller needles, RS facing, beg at lower right front
edge PU38 (44, 48, 54) sts along front edge (where hood is seamed to neck). BO
all sts.
Button Loops (make 6)
Using crochet hook, leave a 4” tail, chain 12 (enough to loop around button),
fasten off leaving a 4” tail. Repeat for remaining loops. Attach to at markings
(use the tails to fasten). Fasten securely.
