Materials:
Size 4 Crystal Palace Star Bamboo
Double Point needles
Tapestry needle
1 50 gr. ball Crystal Palace
Puffin Main Color (MC) #107
1 50 gr. ball Crystal Palace
Puffin Contrasting Color (CC) #207
1/2 yard of ¼ inch elastic
Gauge:
5 ½ Sts/in (21 Sts/10cm)
[These slippers are knit at a firm gauge for best wearability.]
Abbreviations:
SL 1: Slip 1 St.
SSK: Slip the next 2 stitches as if to K, put back onto left hand needle, K2tog.
K2tog: Knit 2 Sts together.
Sts: Stitches
St st: Stockinette Stitch
MC: Main Color.
CC: Contrasting Color.
PM: place marker.
Loop stitch:
Rnd 1:*Bring Yarn forward and wrap around Thumb, Bring yarn to
back of needles, K in front of next stitch and k in back of same st, bind off
one stitch by bring first loop over second loop.* Repeat this process to end of
the round.
Rnd 2: Knit 1 round.
Repeat these two rounds one more time.
Sizes:
Child's small (med, lg)
Slipper:
Cast on 40 (50, 60) Sts with MC. Join being careful not to twist
the sts.
Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: Purl.
Rounds 3 & 4: Knit.
Rounds 5-8: With CC work Loop Stitch Pattern.
Rounds 9-15: Knit using MC.
Working on half of the Stitches, continue St st (K 1 row, P 1 row) until the
flap measures 3 inches less than the total length needed for the foot.
Toe Decrease:
Row 1: SL 1, K2tog, K to last 3 Sts, SSK, K 1.
Row 2: SL 1, P across.
Repeat these two rows until you have 8 Sts left on the needle for the flap. K4
Sts, PM, K4 Sts, Pick up one St for every slipped St on the side of the flap. K
10 (12, 15) Sts, PM, K 10 (12, 15) Sts, Pick up one St for every Slipped St on
the other side of the flap.
K 1 round.
With CC, P 4 rounds.
K 1 round.
Foot decreasing:
With round starting at center front, K2tog 3 (4, 5) times, K to within 6 (8, 10)
sts before the Center Back Marker and K2 tog 6 (8, 10)times, K to within last 6
(8, 10) sts and K2tog 3 (4, 5) times.
K 1 round.
K2tog twice (3, 4)times, K to within 4(6,8)sts of center back marker Then K2tog
4 (6, 8) times, K to within 4 (6, 8) sts of center front marker and K2tog 2 (3,
4) times.
K 1 round.
K2tog 1 ( 2, 3) times K to within 2 (4, 6) sts of center back marker and K2tog 2
(4, 6) times, K to within 2 (4, 6) sts of center front marker and K2tog 1 (2, 3)
times.
K 1 round - Placing all sts for left half of bottom on one needle and all sts
for right half of bottom on another needle.
Kitchener Stitch the sts tog off of the 2 needles. Weave in ends. Measure around
the child’s ankle and mark elastic to be cut and sewn together after weaving
through the sts between the loop stitch rounds.
