merino wool, 50 gm balls 5 (6,7) MC, 1 ball ea of 2 contrast colors (CC1,
CC2).
Colors for model sweater: MC: 5204 "natural", CC1: 5209 "sky
blue", CC2: 5208 "blush pink"

Bamboo or DAISY Needles
sizes 5 and 6
stitch holders.
Gauge: 5.5 sts = 1" in Stockinette stitch (St st) on larger needles. Take time to check gauge.
Back: With smaller needles and main color (MC), cast on
65(76,82) sts. Work K1 ,P1 ribbing for 1.25".
Change to larger needles. Work 2(4,4) rows St st.
Next row: Work 2(2,4) sts in MC, row 1 from chart 1, *work 4 sts MC, row 1 from
chart 1, rep from * ending with 2(2,4) sts in MC. Work all 9 rows of chart 1
pattern, keeping edge sts in MC. In MC work next 22(34,34) rows thus: Work
2(4,4) rows St st. Work 4(6,6) rows Garter st. Work 10(14,14) rows St st. Work
4(6,6) rows in Garter st. Work 2(4,4) rows St st. Next row: knit 2(2,4) sts in
MC, row 1 of chart 2, *knit 4 sts MC, row 1 of chart 2, rep from * ending with
2(2,4) sts in MC. Work all 9 rows of chart 2 pattern.
Work 2(4,4) rows St st in MC. Work 4(6,6) rows Garter st in MC.
Shape Raglan armholes: Bind off 2
sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every other row 7(10,10)
times. Dec 1 st at each end of every row 10(11,14) times. At same time, in MC
work 10(14,14) rows in St st, 4(6,6) rows Garter st, then work from chart 1 as
before (placing motifs above previous ones). 27(30,30) sts rem. Bind off all
sts.
Front: Work as for back until raglan armhole shaping.
Work armhole bind offs and decs as for back except on row 1 bind off center
3(4,4) sts. Finish row.
Place one side of front on holder and work 2 sides separately. Beg neck
shaping at row 6 of chart 1.
Shape neck: Bind off 5(6,6) sts at neck edge. Dec 1 st at neck edge,
every row 5 times. 2 sts rem when arm and neck dec are complete. k2tog, fasten
off. Join yarn to remaining side and finish as first side, reversing shaping.
Sleeves: With smaller needles and MC cast on 39(43,43)
sts and work in k1, p1 rib for 1.25".
Change to larger needles. Work 2(4,4) rows of St st in MC. Work 2(4,4) sts MC,
Work row 1 of chart 1, * 4 sts MC, row 1 of chart 1, rep from * ending 2(4,4)
sts in MC.
Continue in this way working charts and garter st rows as for body. At same
time, inc 1 st each edge every 6(8,8) rows until there are 47(51,51) sts and
work measures 7.5(8.5,9.5)".
Shape Raglan: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end
every other row 7(10,10) times. Dec 1 st each end of every row 10(9,9) times. 9
sts rem. Work 1 row. Bind off all sts.
Right Front Band: Using smaller needles cast on 7 sts.
Work in k1, p1 rib for .5(.75, .75)".
Buttonhole row: Work 3 sts, yam over needle, P2 tog, work last 2 sts.
Work for 1". Make a buttonhole as before. Position band over front neck where
band will be sewn. Make band long enough to fit along edge when slightly
stretched. If a 3rd buttonhole is necessary make one 2 rows before end of band.
To finish, bind off all sts.
Left Front Band: Work as for right band, omitting
buttonholes.
Collar: Using smaller needles cast on 99(105,105) sts.
Work 2" in k1, p1 rib.
Next row: Rib 3 sts, *Yarn back, slip!, k2tog, psso (pass slip st over), rib 3,
rep from * to end: 67(71, 71) sts. Keeping rib correct, bind off 6 sts at beg of
next 6 rows. Bind off rem sts.
Finishing: Sew raglan, sleeve and side seams. Sew front bands in position. Sew collar in position, beginning and ending at center of front bands. Sew on buttons.
