free knitting pattern for baby - toddler gansey in Bunny Hop angora blend

Bunny Hop Gansey      sw 147

Materials:
6 - 50 gr balls - Bunny Hop - Color 2303 Vanilla Cream
Bunny Hop is a blend of microfibers and 8% angora, see colors by clicking link Bunny Hop.
Needles: Crystal Palace Bamboo or DAISY Needles
16" circular size 5 & Single Point or Circular size 6 US or size needed to obtain gauge

Sizes: to fit chest size: 22 (24, 26, 28) inches
(12 mos to 2 years range)
Actual measurement: 24 (26, 28, 30) inches

Gauge:
22 sts = 4” over St st with larger needles
Be sure to check your gauge, incorrect gauge will make your baby sweater the wrong size very quickly.

Abbreviations
CO-cast on, alt-alternate, RS-right side, WS-wrong side, rep-repeat, BO-bind off, c6f-cable over 6 sts: slip 3 sts to cable needle, hold in front of work, k3, then k3 from cable needle, m1-make 1 stitch,

Back
With smaller needles cast on 74 (82, 86, 94) sts.
1st row (RS): K2, * p2, k2 *, rep from * to * to end.
2nd row: P2, * k2, p2 *, rep from * to * to end.
Rep the last 2 rows until rib meas 1.5 in. from beg, ending with a 1st row.

Next row
(WS): Rib 7 (5, 8, 7), * m1, rib 6 (9, 7, 10) *, rep from * to * to last 7 (5, 8, 7) sts, m1, rib to end. [85 (91, 97, 103) sts.]
Change to larger needles and work patt thus:
1st row (RS): K3(6, 9, 12), p2, k6, p2, * k6, p1, k6, p2, k6, p2 *, rep from * to * to last 3(6, 9, 12) sts, k3(6, 9, 12).
2nd row: P3(6, 9, 12), k2, p6, k2, * p5, k3, p5, k2, p6, k2 *, rep from * to * to last 3(6, 9, 12) sts, p3(6, 9, 12).
3rd row: K3(6, 9, 12), p2, k6, p2, * k4, p5, k4, p2, k6, p2 *, rep from * to * to last 3(6, 9, 12) sts, k3(6, 9, 12).
4th row: P3(6, 9, 12), k2, p6, k2, * p3, k7, p3, k2, p6, k2 *, rep from * to * to last 3(6, 9, 12) sts, p3(6, 9, 12).
5th row: K3(6, 9, 12), p2, c6f, p2, * k2, p9, k2, p2, c6f, p2 *, rep from * to * to last 3(6, 9, 12) sts, k3(6, 9, 12).
6th row: P3(6, 9, 12), k2, p6, k2, * p1, k11, p1, k2, p6, k2 *, rep from * to * to last 3(6, 9, 12) sts, p3(6, 9, 12).
7th row: K3(6, 9,12), p2, k6, * p17, k6 *, rep from * to * to last 5(8, 11, 14) sts, p2, k3(6, 9, 12).
8th row: Same as 6th row.
9th row: Same as 5th row.
10th row: Same as 4th row.
11th row: Same as 3rd row.
12th row:  Same as 2nd row.
13th row: K3(6, 9, 12), p2, c6f, p2, * k6, p1, k6, p2, c6f, p2 *, rep from * to * to last 3(6, 9, 12) sts, k3(6, 9, 12).
Rep 2nd to 13th patt rows until back meas 14(15, 16.5, 18) ins from beg, ending with a WS row.
Bind off loosely.

Front
 Work as for back until work meas 11(12, 13.5, 15)ins from beg, ending with a WS row.
Shape Neck Keeping patt correct cont thus:
Next row (RS): Patt 36(38, 41, 43) sts, turn. Cont on these sts only. Cast off 3(3, 4, 4) sts at beg of next row, then 3 sts at beg of foll alt row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 7 rows, then dec 1 st at neck edge on foll 3 alt rows. [20(22, 24, 26) sts.] Cont straight until front meas same as back.
Bind off loosely.
Slip center 13(15, 15, 17) sts onto a st holder. Complete other side of neck to match, reversing neck shaping.

Sleeves
 With smaller needles cast on 50(54, 54, 58) sts and work 6 rows k2, p2 rib as for back. Change to larger needles and cont in St st, inc 1 st at each end of 5th (7th, 7th, 9th) row and every foll 5th(6th, 6th, 8th) row until there are 64(66, 68, 70) sts. Cont straight until sleeve meas 6.25, 7, 8, 8.5 ins from beg, ending with a WS row. Cast off loosely.

Neckband
Taking 1 st into seam, join right shoulder seam. With right side facing using smaller needles, pick up and K 23(23, 24, 24) sts down left front neck, K 13(15,15,17) center front sts, pick up and K 23(23, 24, 24) sts up right front neck, and 45(47, 49, 51) sts across back neck. [104(108, 112, 116) sts.] Work 6 rows k2, p2 rib. Cast off loosely in ribbing.

To Make Up
Taking 1 st into seams, join left shoulder and neckband seam. Beg and ending 5.5 (5.75, 5.75, 6.25 ins from shoulders, sew sleeves to sides. Join side and sleeve seams.
