Aran - Bolero Style Eyelet Rib Vest

Materials
6 (6, 7, 7) - 50 gr balls Aran Wool
color
#1016 "periwinkle"
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles or DAISY Needles US#9 (5.5mm), Single Point and 35" Circulars to pick up sts around edge of vest.
Size Gauge: Back Left Front Right Front Edging
XS, S, M, L
Finished Chest Measurement=30 (36, 40, 44)”
17.5 sts = 4” in eyelet rib stitch (see chart below)
CO 68 (80, 88, 96) sts.
Keeping first and last st in St st as selvedge sts, work in pat until piece
measures 15 (16½, 18, 18½)” from beg. [Note: Or as desired for length to
armhole.]
Shape Armhole
BO 4 sts beg next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end every other row 5 (8, 9, 10)
times – 50 (56, 62, 68) sts
Cont in pat until armhole measures 6 (7, 8, 9)”.
Shape Shoulders
BO 8 (9, 10, 11) sts beg next 4 rows.
BO 18 (20, 22, 24) sts for back of neck.
CO 12 (16, 20, 20, 24) sts.
Keeping first and last st in St st as selvedge sts, work in pat. Keeping to pat,
inc 1 st at neck edge every other row 21 (22, 22, 22) times – 33 (38, 42, 46)
sts
Cont until piece measures 9 ( 9½, 10, 10½)”.
At neck edge, dec 1 st next and then every 4th (6th, 6th, 6th) row 7 (7, 8, 9)
more times. At same time, when piece measures 15 (16½, 18, 18½)”, shape armhole
as for Back. Cont until armhole measures same as Back.
BO 8 (9, 10, 11) sts beg next 2 rows.
As for Left Front, reversing shaping.
Seam shoulders. Pick up sts around armhole and work k1, p1 rib
1½”. BO.
Seam sides.
With circular needles, pick up sts around body and work k1, p1 rib 1½”. Picking
up 1 st per each 3 edge sts, then skipping one place (whether hole or st) will
give a correct number of sts.
BO.
Weave in ends on WS.
