Kid Merino Fingerless Gloves
in Rainbow Stripes

and use the yarn you would have left over from knitting the socks.

MATERIALS:
5-25 gr. balls Crystal Palace Yarns Kid Merino
Colors: A, B, C, D, E (see other color ideas below)
(held double throughout knitting these gloves)
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles: 6" DP size 2

Gauge: 7.5 sts=1" on St st with 2 strands held together

Size: One size (Women’s)

Materials: Crystal Palace Kid Merino, 1-25 g ball each of 5 colors. Choose from one of the following  colorways, or make up your own combination. Or try some of the new printed colors.

5 colors of Kid Merino are combined in stripes, 2 ends held tog.
Pairs of yarn colors: AA, AB, BB, BC, CC, CD, DD, DE, EE

Gloves (make 2):

Striped Pattern:
Work 10 rnds in k3 x p2 rib.
With one strand A and one strand B, work 10 rnds in rib.
With 2 strands of B, work 10 rnds in rib.
With one strand of B and one strand of C, work 10 rnds in rib.
With 2 strands of C, work 10 rnds in rib.
With one strand C and one strand D, work 10 rnds in rib.
With 2 strands of D, work 10 rnds in rib.
With one strand D and one strand E, work 10 rnds in rib.
With 2 strands of E

CO 55 sts with A. Begin Striped Pattern and work 50 rows. Continuing to work Striped Pattern, begin thumb gusset.

Thumb Gusset:
First Rnd: k3, inc one st by working (p1, k1) in next st, inc one st by working (k1, p1) in next st, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

2nd Rnd: k3, p1, k2, p1, work rib to end of rnd.

3rd Rnd: k3, (p1, k1) in next st, k2, (k1, p1) in next st, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

4th Rnd: k3, p1, k4, p1, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

5th Rnd: k3, (p1, k1) in next st, k4, (k1, p1) in next st, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

Continue increasing in this manner at thumb gusset until there are 16 knit sts of gusset between the purl sts.

Next Rnd: k3, p1, thread the 16 sts of the gusset onto a scrap piece of yarn and tie loosely (These sts will be worked later.), CO 4 sts, p1, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

Next Rnd: k3, p6, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd

Next Rnd: k2, sl 1, k1, psso, p4, k2 tog, k2, p2, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

Next Rnd: k3, p4, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

Next Rnd: k2, sl 1, k1, psso, p2, k2 tog, k2, p2, work k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.

Work even in k3 x p2 rib until entire piece measures 8”. BO in rib.

Finishing the Gusset:
Divide the 16 sts between 3 needles and pull scrap yarn out.
Pick up 4 sts from CO sts.
Next rnd: Knit.
Next 3 rnds: k3 x p2 rib to end of rnd.
BO in rib.

Weave in yarn ends.
