One size fits all
Materials:
Crystal Palace Bamboo circular needle 16", size 10-1/2
and 8" Crystal Palace Bamboo 10-1/2 double point needlesfor Red Body Hat:
1 ball Splash #201 (Ivory), 1 50 gr ball Fling #3538 (Lacquer Red) and 1 50 gr skein Cotton Chenille #9784 (Lacquer Red)for White Body Hat:
1 ball Splash #3390 (lacquer red), 1-50 gr ball Fling #3687 (true white) and 1-50 gr skein Cotton Chenille #1058 (bleached white)
With Circular Needles, Cast on 50 stitches, holding a double strand of Splash and join sts being careful not to twist when joining. Working round, purl for 3” for hat band. Change to Fling and Cotton Chenille held together knit in St st on 50 stitches for 7” for crown of hat.
Begin Dec rows as follows (when diameter gets too small for circular needles, change to the Double Point Needles.
Decrease rows:
• Knit 8, k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 7 k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 6, k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 5 k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 4, k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 3 k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 2 k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 1 k2 together to end
Knit 5 rows
• Knit 2 together until 1 st remains
Make Splash pom pom for tip of hat and attach.
If a longer top is desired for the hat, buy one more ball each of Fling and Cotton Chenille and inc the number of knit rows between dec rows from 5 to 7 or 8 rows.
